It doesn’t mean you are a Trumper. It doesn’t even mean you are a Republican. It means you believe in a small, unbloated federal government with more power than we are seeing now relegated to the states. The states are to act as incubators on ideas and policies ranging from education to abortion with the better policies being picked up by other states. They believe I. A federal government taxing only for things that a federal should do that tge states cannot do well such as taxation for military, postal service and army. Conservatives believe in fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget. Small federal taxes. Everything we don’t have now. Is that so scary?

NO it’s not a conservative school. Yes the engineering school is famous for culling they first year clasd

Democrats couldn’t balance the budget if their lives depended on it.

It’s in Blacksburg, after all, and their mascot is a Turkey. Conservative, depends on the kid, but the stadium did participate in the F Joe Biden trend, so there’s that.

Tell me you've never been to Virginia Tech without telling me you've never been to Virginia Tech.

The PP exemplifies the kind of twit who chimes in on schools they’ve never been to or know anything about. Amazing blind hatred. His/her kid must have been rejected.

Virginia Tech is working class hillbilly conservatives. The type that hate immigrants because immigrants took their jobs.

VA Tech? Really? You might me talking about SW VA, but that is not true at the 30,000k University with a student body that is predominantly from NoVA/DMV.

TONS of out of state kids there too - from all over the country. So much ignorance on this thread.

Youngkin and all the Republican good ol boys wear the fleece patagonia vests with their dress shirts and ties. I happened to be in Richmond the weekend of the Youngkin convention and that is what every single man was wearing...many with a Youngkin logo.

Amazing that a fleece vest can trigger someone this badly. Good for them. It’s a nice look.

OP, what are his other choices?

I think all that matters is, what are his other choices

VT is an awesome school. I think it's the best university in Virginia, actually.

It's shocking the bubble some people here live in. Have you ever left your street? Let's see, according to their website, they have an Africana Studies department, a Human Sexuality Certificate, trainings for staff and students on LGBTQ issues, safe spaces, and inclusive housing for transgender students. Yes, clearly this is a bastion of right wing nut jobs. Might as well go Liberty University.

DS is a freshman at VT. He's liberal but also an active Christian, not a Trump-loving right-wing Christian but a liberal, social justice/service type of Christian. He seems very comfortable there. Lots of different kinds of people, just like any very large college.

You really wish that was correct. My husband is class of ‘96 and our oldest is class of ‘17. I know plenty about VT, and I don’t hate it. I’m just being honest. My daughter never went to a country concert until VT, never owned boots until then, and I see the same trend from friends of my younger two. They didn’t apply to VT and both went out of state.

I think that the student body definitely has a conservative lean, and offering classes, clubs, and training does not negate that, but serves to offset it. While I don’t share them, I am one that thinks that people are allowed to have conservative political opinions, and educated people can do so without being racist or homophobic.

My niece attends VT as a freshman this year and she is not a conservative. Far from it: I think you’ll find a little bit if everything at Tech.

Most universities tend to lean liberal and I’d assume the same for VT.

+1. Honestly, OP. Are you afraid that your DS might actually wise up if he's around conservative kids?

Northern and private universities tend to lean liberal. Southern publics lean conservative

Wow, that's really big of you, thanks.
