When are you going to stop wearing masks indoors (stores, etc)

While its guidelines are not the only consideration, CDC says wear masks until the community spread is lower than high or substantial. Today where I live, it's "substantial," reflecting a slow but steady improvement.

CDC is being pressured to change its guidelines, possibly later this week, to "give people a break." Not terribly scientific, but whatever. At that point, I will revert to using other data sources like the COVID ACT NOW site, which I use to follow communities I have an interest in.

I expect to take some measured risks this spring and summer when the risk level is medium to low but will use masking selectively during flu season and in indoor places where risk is known to be high and I cannot or choose not to avoid those places. BTW, I hate masking (I use N95s because they work), have been fully vaccinated and boosted, but am around children too young to be vaccinated and have some risk factors myself.

Their masking guidance has never been terribly scientific, so what is your point?

I’ll take my cue from the employees, if they are masking, I’ll do it, too. Right now I’m traveling in Pennsylvania, and few people wear masks, so I’m not either. It feels pretty liberating.

No. I'll do what I want.

I went without indoor dining for much of the past two years. It's worth the minor risk now, to me.

I shop at some small, crowded grocery stores and I'll wear a mask if I want. There is no downside.

I don’t know. Kids under 5 still can’t be vaccinated and immunocompromised people exist. It also just doesn’t bother me.

Same here.

Came here to post this. This whole thread is so trollish.

Yeah that whole “I have family who wears niqab”….so irrelevant and trolly.

I can think something odd or nonsensical without it “bothering” me.

+1. You do realize, pp, that you look like a bit of a fool when you are alone in your car or walking by yourself and are wearing a mask? It doesn’t bother me- I just think you’re announcing your neurosis to the world.

People who wear camo pattern clothes to Safeway look foolish too, but there aren't dozens of posts on DCUM asking when it's going to stop. This is a weird obsession for a lot of you. Maybe try to focus on something else.

None of your business. As the PP said, find something else to focus on.

The seven day average of Americans dying of Covid is over 2000/day. The pandemic is far from over and so I will continue to wear a mask (especially since I live with someone who is high risk/medically vulnerable).

In MoCo, tomorrow!

This!!

I really don’t want to. Wear a mask forever if you want. I don’t care. But I’m not wearing one.

Are you OP? OP specifically said they think it's important that they see people's faces. This thread is about answering OP's question about what will trigger people's decision to stop wearing a mask. You clearly feel defensive about your decision to stop given that you felt the need to weigh in even though your post isn't responsive to the OP.

Not for a very long time. Why do you care?

If a business requires it, the obviously respect the owner's wishes. But as a general trend, at what point can we agree that wearing a mask to run an errand is necessary? I say that as someone who is an essential employee and works in person. And I will go on record saying that it's also essential to see people's faces and expressions, at the very least because it's a big form of human communication. And I also say this as someone with Muslim family members who wear niqab (face coverings) - it's a human benefit to see each other's faces as a default (and not mask as the default)

Are you really that much of a germphobe? Are you really severely vulnerable and not vaccinated? Or are you doing it because everyone's doing it? If so, when are you doing to stop with masking indoors? I don't understand why societally, we're continuing to mask when feeling healthy.

What is wrong with you? "feel healthy" means nothing and that's what is keeping us in this mess. People believe they are "healthy" and don't think twice about spreading it. Why do you need to see my mouth and nose? You aren't going to talk to me, you aren't going to see me again. You realize if you want to be friendly, saying hello can go a long way.

Maybe women covering up wearing a niqab have it the right way as it gives them some protection.

If you aren't masking indoors near me, I am not going to get close enough to you where you can even see my face, so why does it matter? If I see someone unmasked I purposely walk away from them and if they get close to us/especially my kids, I'll pull them back/away if they don't hear me to tell them to move.

I am NOT going to get covid from someone like you.

This. Haven't worn one in about a year except on planes.

I'm another one who hasn't worn one in a year, except where absolutely required (doctor's office, airplane, my children's school and unfortunately, my work.)
