Did they choose one of these schools?

My kid applied to all of these and got various offers from most.

30k at Oberlin and ended up there
20k from Kenyon
15k from Macalester
25k from CWRU
25k from St Olaf
36k from Wooster
2k but instate at Pitt
25k at Occidental
half tuition at Mt Holyoke
25k from Smith
25k from Bryn Mawr

I also second suggestions for Miami U (OH), Ohio University, Alabama + ASU, UKentucky, Washington & Jefferson College, Dickinson College, Gettysburg College, Allegheny College, College of Charleston (lower OOS cost), Purdue (lower OOS cost), etc.

Just wanted to add DC was offered $9,500/year which makes it cheaper than any in state school since the OOS tuition is also very reasonable. This was just based on GPA, didn’t submit test scores. I suspect students with excellent test scores and even higher GPAs would be offered even more in merit aid.

Correct. This was the case for our DC. SAT 1500+

PP again - that’s great. My kid is not particularly high stats so we were pleased and a bit surprised by the merit offer. Also got around 9k/year offer from West Virginia. Just wanted to flag for people whose kids are not super high stats like mine but still looking for merit money.

Thanks for this thread. It would be helpful to post amount of aid and the amount kid/family will pay

In state school X $20 merit, so paying $15k.

The amount family will pay would also have to factor in financial aid, outside scholarships....some schools haven't released the whole financial picture yet, only merit aid. Point is, we don't know the whole story yet, DS only got his merit aid letters, still awaiting on financial aid

Chapman $28000/year for 4 years

You can look up the costs for any school mentioned here and do the math. As another PP pointed out, none of this includes financial aid so each individual family will be different.

WPI just sent my college sophmore an offer to transfer with her orginal Merit Aid offer (I do not recall but it was fairly generous) +5K more. An interesting marketing ploy.
