And all four of those are Asian.

Asians play sport too? I thought they weren't well rounded.

Every year TJ has recruited athletes. Why is that so hard to comprehend?

No - and obviously you are proving that plenty of folks post about TJ without actually knowing anything about TJ.

That is awesome. Congratulations to those kids.

Seems low.

TJ parent here. Nope, not good for non-athletes. High stat and high honors and rejected by T20. Should have gone to base school. 4 years of driving back and forth, what for!

I've said this many times - TJ is absolutely phenomenal for good athletes to get into excellent schools. It's horrible at getting STEM-only kids into excellent schools.

Agree! Sports is the way to go, it really does not matter which HS you go. My advice for parents is if your DC has athletic ability and can get all As in your base school, life is much easier to stay there. I can’t guarantee if they will succeed easily at places like MIT once you get in though. So think about what your goal is. If elite school is what you want, spend the money and get some at Helene training instead. Otherwise, your newly admitted smart DC will be like mine, truly become a nerd with high stats and watching others stepping into ivies based on sports or legacy.

They also have a (non-Asian) girls' T&F star going to Penn as well. Must be a good year for TJ student athletes.

She's actually half-Black.

Don't think so.

She is. Dad is white and mom is Black.

As the author of the "don't think so," I erred in assuming that black was an incorrect inference from the name of the other track star. Ah... the difficulties of mixed-raced children growing up on the hardscrabble streets of North Arlington.

What if you are a strong athlete but may or may not be an athletic recruit.

I have a strong tennis playing STEM kid. He wants to be a doctor one day. I wonder if he would be well served at TJ.

Oddly enough, tennis may be the hardest sport to shine at TJ. They've had a run of seven straight state championships recently on the boys side.

But there are a lot of exceptional academic schools that don't offer athletic scholarships but do offer preference in the admissions office to outstanding students who are also recruited athletes. WashU, NYU, UChicago, Hopkins, and even MIT fit into this category.

Congratulations!

TJ might have one of the best college acceptances if not the best for public HS.
