Ariana Grande's extensive plastic surgery- is she asianfishing now?

I will actually deny that she has talent.

Combo of surgery, makeup and intensive makeup like eyelid glue. Eyelid glue has been used by Asian women to give themselves eye folds, but it can be used to fake no fold, too. I think it’s weird that she’s trying to make herself look Asian; ethnicity is not a costume.

You probably think Taylor Swift has talent

Then she gradually morphed into a black or mixed facade and I was like WTF. Now this. K pop is the new wave, J pop hasn't quite gained as much traction, but either way she's just latching into a new identity. I don't understand how anyone thinks this is ok.

+1

I also initially thought she was Latinx!

I ask this seriously, but who cares if she decides to portray herself as Asian now? Or if she previously portrayed herself as Latina? Why is it so bad? Why can one portray themselves as a different gender but not a different ethnicity? What makes ethnicity so sacrosanct but not gender?

It's just makeup and filters - if you put enough concealer on your eyefold, it looks like it's not there.

"Being white is an advantage."
"She's trying to be non-white to gain an advantage."

I'm getting mixed messages.

Ariana Grande has clearly attempted to make herself appear 'exotic' and has leaned on a variety of different cultures somewhat ambiguously to create that look. You can feel one way or another about that. She also really leans on that 'look like a small child' aesthetic which has some overlap with 'look asian'.

But this is insane she has clearly NOT removed her eyelids lol.

She’s not Latina?! That is news to me. I always thought she was Hispanic either Mexican or Colombian.

Is this going to be the new trend? Is it okay for someone to get plastic surgery to racially copy another group?

The real question is why you would even read an article that counts Oli London as any kind of source. The guy is a super-stalker and Jimin is probably scared to go outside his home in case that lunatic is nearby. He's crazy.

That means you don’t like her songs. Ok. But to outright deny that she’s legit talented singer, then you’ve lost all credibility.
