It’s kind of that but not at the same time. Nyc is straight up more international só style cues will have a more international flavor..and in style capitals abroad, umc women totally have longer nails. And op is an international woman, not a basic white woman. That has benefits big time if you play to your strengths |
Nothing "basic" about being a white woman, but yeah. I'm talking more about LA style and NYC as well which is all about conspicuous status. Miami as well. And the long nails are in big time as are unique hair colors. It's kind of a power play. |
| I don't think any of this helps "appeal to UMC men." This is about how to fit in with UMC women. Men don't care about any of this stuff. To appeal to men, wear flattering clothes and makeup and be confident and flirty |
Yeah I agree, my younger sister (29) is a corporate lawyer in another city and was getting those pointy acrylics for a while. I think it was sort of like "I'm so good at my job, I can have edgy nails and no one can tell me anything" kind of thing. I think for it to work the rest of your style needs to be a little more fashion-forward (which hers is). I'm a 36yo fed lawyer and am firmly in the short rounded camp, as is every other female lawyer here in DC basically. Anyway, I wouldn't expect any straight man to appreciate those nuances and I think your nails can look however they want, OP |
| "UMC" is a pretty broad category. We're not rich, but an Ivied-degreed man married to an Ivied-degree woman, so I think we qualify as UMC. She wears LL Bean and Ann Taylor clothes, gets her hair cut twice a year (never styled or colored), almost never wears makeup, and never does anything to her nails. So that's one example. There are a few million others, and some are at the other extreme. |
I know a grandkid of a near billionaire who’s always in tshirts and sweats. You just can’t assume anything about people and really shouldn’t. |
| For OP: just find guys like me, who like Indian women no matter what they are wearing. Your advantage: you probably look good in any color. |
| As far as putting on the right make-up, for your foundation you should be using a good B.A. and then contour with an M.A. or professional degree. |
I know, right? 😬 |
She said she was from Pakistan. |
I’m Asian American. I grew up with immigrant parents. Now we are UMC with a seven figure income. Most days I wear athleisure. I like my clothes well fitted. I wear a lot of dresses. Like many women, I like both Kate Middleton and Megan’s style. I do not try to look like a WASP. I recently started liking lily Pulitzer. Never liked it before. We live in McLean where there is a large international presence. You don’t have to look like a WASP to be rich. There are Americanized Middle Eastern and South Asian women. The more attractive ones have a pretty face, beautiful hair, tall, thin and very polished. I think the clothes matter less because they look stunning in anything. |
Who attracted higher caliber men, her or you? |
NP. I would guess the younger sister, but not necessarily to marry her. |
What? It's true. The Korean women in my office reek of oil. The black women smll like fast food. The white men smell like cheap deodorent. Those are just facts. |
| Umm… you go to a shop with expensive clothes you like? Buy and wear? Or go to Nordstrom and get a personal shopper. Tell them your budget. |
