He will appoint people with common sense to the VDOE - something that has been sorely lacking for some time. I was a lifelong Republican until the shift to authoritarianism but I know that almost half of women get an abortion in their lives and many don’t talk about it.

I can't tell if the bolded is specifically in reference to abortion or a summary of the whole post, but on abortion the official Republican party platform is anti-choice. I really can't believe people are this obtuse or ignorant. And you are going to see what happens to the rights of your daughters re: abortion when the Supreme Court reverses Roe or guts 40+ years of jurisprudence on the issue later this year. The right of married couples to birth control may or may not remain intact. And yes, I said married couples. Laws restricting the rights of women to obtain birth control may be back on menu. Enjoy!

As far as the authoritarianism, well, yes. And as a politician you are either part of it or you're not. How does a voter tell the difference? That is simple - does your candidate reject Trump's attempted coup or not? I realize that people freak out about using the "c" word, but that's your own arrogance talking. His only chance to do any of the things he promised is to be a centrist. He won 52%-48% at best. I do not in any way contest Youngkin's victory, but all the analyses conveniently leave out the fact this this victory was a squeaker.

Yeah, $400M just fell into his pockets because he’s tall and White, right? Because that’s how you imagine the world works - no particular skill or brains required.

He’ll be making Virginia a better place to live, work, and get an education, all while the usual crowd chatters away.

Virginia was named the best state for business in 2021 and top 10 states for quality of life all before Youngkin was elected. What exactly is he going to do?
