Series that really tugged at your heart or mostly heart-warming

"Parks and Recreation" (keep watching, it gets better after season one when some characters change). Really sweet friendships and romances.

For me, a very heartwarming show though it might not seem like it is "Psych." Comes on as a goofy motormouthed annoying man-boy show but over time and close watching, there are a lot of devoted relationships and one of the best (though very underrated!) non-romantic, female-male partnerships/mentorships/friendships on TV. Takes time to get there (and again, keep watching, things grow a lot after season one, and the pilot is one of the least good episodes-it's not bad! but just skip to episode 2).

+1 to the bolded.

I also like Atypical, Kim's Convenience, and while it's not the greatest and a bit predictable, my kids and I have also enjoyed Love Victor on Hulu.

Not sure if OITNB is "mostly heart warming" but some of the episodes in the final season are some of the most compelling television I've ever seen. I watched one episode and literally turned off the tv, crying, and made a donation to RAICES.

Love on the Spectrum - not a scripted television show, but I found myself smiling the entire way through.

Dolly Parton's Heartstrings
Eight stories celebrating family, faith, love and forgiveness come to life in this series inspired by Dolly Parton's iconic country music catalog.

Agree with many of the previous suggestions:

Road to Avonlea
Crash Landing On You
Durrell’s in Corfu (the best!)
Brooklyn Bridge! Love PP who suggested this. One of my favorites as a kid.

Cranford
All Creatures Great and Small
Golden Girls
Full House
If you like Outlander I highly recommend Men in Kilts

also

Last Tango to Hailfax Again seems like it would be dull but so so so good!!

I've also been resistant to watch this, mainly because I loved the old 80s miniseries so much, but maybe I should give it a try!

The Good Place comes to mind, I totally bawled during the series finale.

Another series that is silly but has a great heart is Raising Hope. I rewatched on Hulu early in the Pandemic.

I can't do tearjerkers much anymore. I have been mostly watching comedies during this nightmare situation.

I also love Raising Hope and My Name Is Earl. Heartwarming and set in northern Virginia (pimmit hills).

Lucifer! Not at all what you’d expect. And he’s so lovely, trying to bad but always being good. And he sings, plays piano and dances. Love. (Otherwise rather formulaic but Tom Ellis makes up for that).

Durrells in Corfu--is it mostly fun or mostly sad (or a mix)?

NP. I'd been wondering about "Lucifer" -- your post has me ready to give it a try!
