Series that really tugged at your heart or mostly heart-warming

Seconding Six Feet Under. One of my all-time favorites.

Heartwarming shows for me are Judging Amy and Ghost Whisperer but really what I do to get my heart tugged is listen to country music (something I had stopped doing for more than a decade after grad school).

I LOVED Judging Amy! Is it available to stream somewhere?

Check earlier on this thread re: Judging Amy, PP -- nope, it does not stream anywhere. When I checked into DVDs, they were either in formats for other countries (not playable in the US without an international DVD player) or they were playable but seemed to be bootlegs made by someone just filming what was on their TV. Maybe we need to contact CBS (where it originally aired) and start telling them there's an audience if they would make it available in some form. There are awful quality videos posted on YouTube of pretty much every episode but the quality is almost unwatchable on some episodes.

This was a great series with lots of familiar faces. I’ve never known anyone else who watched it. Maybe it hit too close to home for the workaholics.

I used to watch it. I loved the characters, especially Ephram and Amy.

Come to think of it, I guess I enjoy small town shows. Over the years, I’ve also enjoyed:
Picket Fences
Northern Exposure
Men in Trees
Gilmore Girls
Hart of Dixie

I just finished Schmigadoon on AppleTv. A little bit-or-miss, but soooo likable, especially if you have any familiarity with musicals.

Nothin will ever fill the Offspring -sized hole in my heart.

PS I had a tumor removed by surgery and just spent a month home recuperating. I was so damn lucky. But hearing the c-word at 41 was pretty damn terrifying.

Yay!!!

Hope you come back here-- Are you referring to watching "Judging Amy" back in the day, in broadcast, or do you have some way you watch it now? I'd love to find it.

I never saw it when it aired. I've scoured the internet for DVDs and only found bootlegs in the US. Sold on Amazon etc. as if legit, and shown with nice packaging, but apparently are bad copies, filmed directly off people's TV screens then copied to DVDs--thank goodness I didn't buy any. And one season on DVD from Denmark, so wrong format for the US!

It also does not stream anywhere. that I can locate. At all.

I've resorted to watching truly horrible copies on YouTube. If you know any way to stream the series that's legit, or you know any way to get actual DVDs that aren't dodgy -- please let me know. I'm very willing to pay for real DVDs or legit streaming but this show's become a unicorn....Many thanks.

Not PP but this was such a good show. I stalked “Everwood” back in the day and watched it on bootleg DVDs. Eventuality it came to Hulu and zero people watched it. But i thought it had some really touching seasons and story arcs.

I"m the PP seeking "Judging Amy." I'll have to check out "Everwood" someday -- I recall friends saying (when it was on) that they liked it. Thanks--though I suspect it's now another unicorn show....

It's amazing that no one has realized there's a market for these older (90s-early 2000s) "heartwarming" shows like "Everwood," "Judging Amy," "Early Edition" (another one I'd recommend and another one that's very hard to find all of on legit DVDs and it does not stream!).

Meanwhile, still seeking "Judging Amy," PP at the top, if you have any ideas!

NP - I loved Early Edition and send in requests to Netflix every six months to have them add it.
