Nobody accused you of being a FCV parent Coach. |
|
Very talented as in very talented. And now we know why you wanted to know the roster size: to go after Spirit. Good job; strong work. Happy now?
But at least Arlington has found a way to lump itself with FCV. Be careful though. Loudoun too tried to strike up an alliance and all it got them was abused. |
| FCV has 23 on its roster. What are you Arlington people talking about? |
| (not including DP players) |
Yes. I understand all of this. Numerous people have said that the large roster sizes and play ups are a negative for both teams effected. Not a positive. |
|
To the roster size demanding poster.. who I think also talked about big rosters contributing to weaker development.
So FCV has posted their rosters and for 1/2 of their teams, they exceed 20. What was your point? At what roster number is development apparently unmanageable and detrimental? |
Don't be soooo defensive. Sounds like those VERY talented kids will play up and displace the age appropriate kids. This will go over real well. But hey, 20 players on a rosters right. Add in a couple of DP players every game and you got yourself a plus size roster all over again. Ding Ding Ding...have funnnnnn

In my opinion, the 06, 05, 04, age groups should not go beyond 18. Seven subs is enough. Obviously, the combined age groups are a different story. You have to go big in order to keep the younger talent or risk not having a team the following year. |
Soooooo at no point will FCV be able to really do play-ups well, because they too would have to displace age appropriate and any DPs. Which doesn't sound like a different argument... please explain further |
Wow! Arlington is very busy today. Did you lose a player to Spirit or something? What has got your panties in such a ruffle? |
FCV doesn't do play ups. You can be younger and make the team (like an 06 on a 05 roster) but playing up to displace another kid...nah. Doesn't happen. If it does, it must be so rare that no one knows about it. |
But, but, but I thought FCV was so perfect and wait, how did that poster put it, oh yeah "FCV and Arlington appear to understand the politics and went with smaller roster sizes". Clearly this delusional parent (who is likely Arlington given that mistake) has tried to leap without looking. Make sure you have some idea what you are talking about. By the way, we know FCV recruits because people who have been recruited to FCV say they were recruited. Moreover, some of those recruits are calling up teammates trying to pull them over as well. So, it's not just a rumor. FCV recruitment is an absolute fact. That FCV has rosters maxed out at 22 players, another absolute fact. FCV can't do play ups anyways because they don't have room. I don't know by the way that Spirit will play any players up. That was a supposition by a single poster. Maybe they will; maybe they won't. But one thing they will do is give adequate playing time to players beyond the top 11. FCV hasn't, as is a matter of historical record. Also a fact. As for this delusional Arlington parent, let's see what your DA teams look like before you go thumping your chest about 16 player size rosters. |
What...!?!?!!?!? This is the most incomprehensible post in a long time. Is an 06 on a 05 roster not a playing up? And FCV's 04's have an 05 on their roster. FCV has had several playups on their ECNL teams. They eventually drop them to age for competitive reasons. |
Not the OP or anything, but we've had people from other clubs attempt to recruit us. It's travel soccer and it happens. I see you went at FCV on this post for whatever reason, even though you said you're talking to an Arlington parent....why? People complain about FCV parents and some of it is warranted, but on these last few pages it seems that someone is hell bent on dragging them into everything. |
Last year, Spirit had a high injury rate on one team, and another team had players that from the outset had an agreement with Spirit concerning the spring that they wouldn't be doing DA in the spring (like 7 or so players from the U19s). Whatever happened last year, Spirit is the only DA that was a start up, without feeder teams, so yeah, year 1 had some exceptional circumstances. As for this year, 20 players on older teams isn't ridiculous given players will miss for SATs, ID camps, a higher injury rate, etc. Clearly FCV (who already has Arlington bowing to them) agrees, as they have over 20 on both their older teams. This is a ridiculous topic that has already taken up way too many posts. It has no value whatsoever. Can we move on now? |
