Got it, you are just daft. FYI she is suing the other jewelry designer who “gifted” her several items in exchange for press. |
I think Diana was properly a kindergarten aide. She was of a class of women who were expected to marry well and the last of a generation for whom university education was not expected for upper class women. And she apparently wasn't very bright, academically. The kindergarten job was one of those nice little jobs you did before marrying a nice man and settling down into a nice country life. |
+3, great article. I don't feel one way or another about Kate since I've never followed her or the British royal family, although recently have been interested in Harry and Meghan and I feel bad about the racism and cattiness Meghan has faced. In general, I think most people don't consider themselves on a "team" and just support other women (some on this thread are an obvious exception). A lot of projection from women here who analyze their every move, appearance, clothing, etc. and then draw unsupported conclusions about their character (also, Kate vs. Meghan as "traditionalism" vs. "modernity"). I wish we as women spent our time in more productive ways, vs. picking apart celebrities. Closing paragraph: "But all women lose when women’s lives are boiled down to these simple binaries: selfless mother against ruthless careerist. Meghan is a mother too. Kate has political interests, such as mental health and early-childhood education. Both have nannies and live in homes worth millions. Not everything they do is “sending a signal” or “making a statement”; some of their personal choices are just that: personal choices. By focusing only on the differences between them, we lose sight of the institutions—the royal family and the architecture of misogyny—that constrain them both." |

Oh no! Meghan's mom is selling her out to the tabloids too!

Maybe the Brits are waking up. Too little, too late. It would take a massive change in their entire racial system to undo this.
"The analysis - which appears to support Duchess Meghan's argument that she has faced highly critical treatment in the British press - found that of the 843 articles in 14 print newspapers since mid-May 2018, 43% were negative. Just one in five (20%) were positive..." https://www.theguardian.com/global/2020/jan/18/meghan-gets-more-than-twice-as-many-negative-headlines-as-positive Meanwhile the ratio for Kate is 4/5 positive while doing zero to accomplish it. Kate could be grocery shopping with a bodyguard and the paper will rave 'Future Queen just like commoners!" |
It sounds like her mom is defending her daughter to the press. Her mother said her grandson is “the cutest” and Meghan is a strong woman. It sounds like her mom didn’t like her dad selling her out and stepped up to defend her daughter. Good for them! There is nothing in the article except words of support from Doria Ragland. |
I agree. Her mom is being supportive. |
OK: "The Duchess of Sussex gets more than twice as many negative headlines as positive ones, according to Guardian analysis of articles published between May 2018 and mid January 2019." Why such a specific data range? Let's go back to when we first started hearing about Kate as a romantic partner. It was not all positive. And if 43% is negative, then 57% is positive. What is the ideal ratio? |
You should read the Atlantic article. But I think you're afraid to. Shrugs. Meghan was fresh meat. Just like Kate had been before. But Kate toughened it out. Meghan would have too had she the stamina. I also think that the way Meghan handled it made it worse. Especially the discrepancy between her "woke" progressiveness and demanding extreme privilege at the same time caused a lot of people to start seeing her as hypocritical, and that resulted in sharpening criticism. I do think she really didn't understand how it would come across in the British presses. She likely didn't realize what she was getting into and what she needed to do to manage it or balance it. |
I really thought Meghan would be able to ignore the gossip papers. I’ve seen many celebrities interviewed who are shocked by the things being said because they pay no attention. |
| My take is that Meghan is far from a gold digger. She left the royal life and is capable of making her own money regardless of A list/ C list. It’s a living. She practically rescued Harry from a stuffy dysfunctional family with zero warmth. I mean, they are covering for a pedophile. I can’t imagine Harry is ok with that. I like Kate too and don’t get the ‘teams’ thing. I think Harry has likely always wanted out of that life and his new family gave him the courage to break free. Good for him. There was always talk about his mom trying to expose the boys to normal life. I see this as part of her legacy for him. |
Her mother talked to someone who spoke to the press. It's hard to avoid but never comes across positively. Earlier, her mother is quoted as supporting their decision to exit, which is supportive but also critical of the Royal Family, which is the only reason any of us even know who Meghan is. |
Now he has moved on to the normal life of an influencer. Ugh. |
That "tsk tsk" poster is just a super-bitch who interprets absolutely anything to do with Meghan Markle as negative, even her mother saying, through someone else, that she was a strong woman and her baby was the cutest. The PP is mental. |
This. I love that article. Doria praised her daughter while speaking in passing to someone else who just shared it with the press. Far different from Thomas Markle calling up TMZ and GMB to be a hateful SOB. I also love Meghan's new life in Canada. It's clear she was isolated in Britain (emotionally and physically) and its SO much easier for people to get up to Canada - especially from LA - than on a 11-hour direct flight to London. You wanted to know where her friends are? They're by her side. Meghan has also been surrounded by the support of close friends who have come to visit her in Canada. She was seen picking up her friend Heather Dorak, a pilates instructor in L.A., on Thursday at the Victoria International Airport. Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer went on a New Year’s Day hike with Meghan and Harry. And actress Janina Gavankar snapped the adorable photo of Archie that appeared on the Duke and Duchess’ holiday card. Meghan’s good friend Jessica Mulroney, who lives in Toronto, was also on-hand to watch Archie while Meghan and Harry traveled to the U.K. to make their big announcement. |
