2021 VA Governors race

Republicans need to send a message to suburbs about critical race theory and detracking math(and eventually other subjects) in schools.
Particularly Asian families need to know about all the math classes their kids will miss out on.
Algebra in 9th grade instead of 6th or 7th, no calculus in high school(though VMPI claims otherwise).

Agree with this. Parents are absolutely fed up with the far left liberal policies. The last year has completely made clear the priorities of Democrats on the school boards, state education leaders.

Vote wisely in November. Or expect more of the same.

I live in Maryland and I have to say that VA parents are the most obsessed about college admissions of any parents in our area. Like by far. Every single one of them that I have met.

I could really see a “back to basics” message on education really resonating with parents.

Agree, one glance at the Fairfax County Public Schools, Arlington Public Schools, AAP forums will give you all the evidence you need. Folks who have supported Democrats in the past are opening their eyes and voting for the best interests of their students.

The people on the forums are a small number. Are other parents aware of this? If I were to pick a random parent at my school and asked them about critical race theory, I bet they'd have no idea. Same with how accelerated math is being taken away.
Even if they are aware, they might not care so much because they don't understand the issue.

The bold is 100% true where I live (Loudoun.) I find it sad that parents are so checked out.

Sign the recall petitions! It at least sends a message, and maybe some of them will decide not to run for re-election in 2023 and we can get some people in there who care about education and not just advancing their own political careers/social media presence.

it is really sad that you can't see past rage and political leaning to know what you are saying her is complete and utter BS

I can assure you that the members who are personal friends of mine care deeply about education, children and care nothing about further political office or their social media following

Sorry, but I’ve been watching these idiots on the School Board since early 2020 and they are utterly corrupt, hypocritical, and incompetent. I will be crossing party lines and voting for Republicans in state and local elections until the current FCPS School Board is replaced. If the best the Democrats can do is offer the likes of Abrar Omeish, Karen Keys Gamarra, and Terry McAuliffe as candidates, count me out.

The obsession is linked to the quest for UVA admission.

Won't matter. NOVA = Bay Area politics. Terry M wins by 10.

Better to get your neighbors aware of these issues as well and encourage them to do the same. The sense I get is the local Republican parties are checked out, but you could ask for their walk lists and volunteer.

That won’t work.

If Republicans say it, Ds will say it’s all lies and add the word Trump causing D voters to run back to the Democratic ticket.

I’m sad for how much critical thinking has been lost and maligned on the Dem side. It’s the party of lock step now. No different than the extreme Right.

NO votes for any republicans.

GOP = party of death + party of scammers, grifters, liars, and for god's sake death to Democracy.

At this point in time, no Republican should be trusted in office. There were no tourists on Jan 6th and 100% they knowingly are lying. NEVER AGAIN.

100% never again they stand with Russian Traitors.

100% wrong

At least Dems have not sold their souls to Russia, kkk and plain old sub humans

Try again. EX REPUBLICAN HERE NEVER AGAIN EVER.

Trump is a criminal, GOP are criminals, Did you not just see that Texas bill? ARE YOU KIDDING?

We are a Democratic country and you better start remembering that or we will be Russia.

I am so tired of people being this dumb

Republicans have no policies. We just had a pandemic and where the H is the new health plan promised. That $519 million that election lies from the party of "fiscal responsibility"????? Border Wall where we taxpayers have paid DT's contractors who are now all in court for embezzlement. Again we want those monies back! And by Geroge defund the police, yeah that too is on the GOP. And those yellow stars on T shits, well people Nazism and the GOP go hand in hand.

This forum has a local focus, thanks.

California voters voted against Prop 16 in spite of a massively funded campaign to get it passed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if education will be the kitchen table single-issue for voters in the fall. People can’t afford private schools like Terry could. Heck, people can’t afford the extra 10K for supplementation year-round.

No books, no discipline, no knowledge-based curriculum, no syllabus for parents & guardians to follow, no advanced math.

Thing is many of these Asian voters are voting D by default and don't really follow the issues. Rs are non-existents and Ds just show up and say Christian, gun control, abortion, and win.

The past year has been an eye-opener in terms of the extremism in both parties. January 6th was an affront to our republic, but it’s the local Democrats who made parents’ lives miserable for a solid year and pander incessantly to groups who’d confiscate the savings of families if they could to further their radical agenda.

If I run for Governor, I would work and be passionate about Virginia IS For Education Lovers. Raising salaries doesn’t solve the mess we have. That would be like putting a BanAid on a fracture.

McAuliffe and Ayala are both horrible. The only good news in that Roanoke poll is that the campaign of local professional agitator Sean Perryman appears to be going nowhere.
