No they’re not. No one cares. |
Hm. I think many parents do, especially those dependent on public schools. |
The state DOE could change its mind after the election just as fast as they changed when it went up on Facebook. Their website has them pushing elimination of tracking. They will likely be pushing this behind the scenes to school boards. The author of the Railside study was in the room pushing parents not to opt out of their program similar to what VMPI is pushing. I think it is better to go with the guy who said he would fire the group, and then go after the school board, rather than take a chance that kids will be stuck in algebra in 9th grade having to do the work of their classmates, putting them behind their peers even in rural high schools across the country. |
+1 Agree with this. Parents are absolutely fed up with the far left liberal policies. The last year has completely made clear the priorities of Democrats on the school boards, state education leaders. Vote wisely in November. Or expect more of the same. |
I live in Maryland and I have to say that VA parents are the most obsessed about college admissions of any parents in our area. Like by far. Every single one of them that I have met. I could really see a “back to basics” message on education really resonating with parents. |
Agree, one glance at the Fairfax County Public Schools, Arlington Public Schools, AAP forums will give you all the evidence you need. Folks who have supported Democrats in the past are opening their eyes and voting for the best interests of their students. |
The people on the forums are a small number. Are other parents aware of this? If I were to pick a random parent at my school and asked them about critical race theory, I bet they'd have no idea. Same with how accelerated math is being taken away. Even if they are aware, they might not care so much because they don't understand the issue. |
Agree, VDOE made it clear in the initial presentation that they are against tracking and wants heterogeneous classrooms with differential learning. Yes they changed their minds due to political pressure but FCPS and LCPS may already pushing this behind the scenes. I bet they wouldn’t say anything until after election. Terry has been quiet about these changes which means he’s totally onboard. |
Unfortunately FCPS board members term don’t expire until 2023. We can’t wait that long for change. |
Which means that this is probably going to play out in the state Assembly and Board of Supervisors. The shift will come from "Biden Democrats". |
Board of Supervisors controls funding, but cannot affect School Board policy. |
Sign the recall petitions! It at least sends a message, and maybe some of them will decide not to run for re-election in 2023 and we can get some people in there who care about education and not just advancing their own political careers/social media presence. |
it is really sad that you can't see past rage and political leaning to know what you are saying her is complete and utter BS I can assure you that the members who are personal friends of mine care deeply about education, children and care nothing about further political office or their social media following |
LOL ok then, I’ll just take your word for it 👍 (said no one ever) The recall petitions will be at the Burke farmers market tomorrow from 9-12 and Viva Vienna all weekend. |
At this point McAuliffe is poised to win, but anything can happen to drag him down between now and November.
Most important: Staunch Ds need to get out and vote in November. |
