2021 VA Governors race

A republican could get elected if they were an old style one - moderate on social issues and slightly conservative on fiscal ones. But the VA Rs seem intent on nominating far right candidates.

+100

And no other Governor could Moonwalk like him either!

His wife wouldn't let him moonwalk. Thankfully the scarecrow does have a brain--His wife.

Agreed. The R’s have lost all sense of reasonability. The party is destroyed. One can only hope that fiscally conservative Democrats start to emerge in that party.

Comstock is going to run. So is Loudoun’s sheriff. Gonna be a crowded right wing.

We don’t need former Governor Bag Man running things. He is a part of the old Democratic Party - a relic of the right wing Bill Clinton past

Justin Fairfax is the new blood we need to bring Virginia forward. Frankly, all of the above posters trying to stamp out his chances of running for Governor are coming across as more than a bit racist

what does this mean? I like the old democrats. They should come back and not get dragged to the left by the progressive wing.

I agree. The new democrats do stupid stuff like pass bills last spring to allow for local ordinances for the collective bargaining of public employees starting June 2021. Can you imagine what the teachers are going to do then? And that'll it'll potentially be different county by county. It's like they have no long term strategic planning.

Completely in favor of collective bargaining for teachers unions and strengthening unions in general.

Rs more likely to stand up to the unions (collective bargaining kicks in 2021) but Ds more likely to actually give the $ that schools need to make the necessary improvements. Ugh. Why can’t the Rs exile the wackos in their party. I probably agree with Rs more on policy but I just can’t handle the gun nuts and conspiracy morons.

I will vote for anyone who pledges to keep the schools closer so long as there is a pandemic that is out of control. Anything less is unacceptable.

The Virginia Republican Party just hasn't seemed to adjust at all to how far Virginia has moved along the national Left / Right spectrum in the last few decades. I am also continually surprised how low quality the GOP statewide candidates have been in recent elections - completely aside from ideology. I keep waiting for them to get tired of getting beaten to a pulp and snap out of it. But once again it does not look promising for the 2021 Governors race. We may be headed towards truly liberal statewide policy if they keep it up. Northam is moderate / conservative on fiscal & economic issues - future Virginia Democrats are likely to be to his Left.

Kirk Cox announced his candidacy in the past day. That is a Republican candidate who could win.

The GOP is out of control. I will not vote for another Republican until the party can get its act together.

Kirkland Cox is right out there with Trump. His public statements are just as bizarre and, if he weren’t aging so rapidly, the same signals would be obvious. No. Not in a million years.

A-friggin’-men. This isn’t Virginia 2001. Any old Dem won’t do.

I'm voting for JCF

Terry McAuliffe and Sam Rasoul should be the next Gov/Lt. Governor.

No way Jennifer Caroll Foy is electable in a state-wide race.

Why do you think JCF isnt electable statewide?
