This comment is spot on: ‘The article should have simply read: "Rockville officials approved $430,000 in taxpayer generated funding to give to Federal Realty Investment Trust by passing it through the retail tenants of taxpayer subsidized Rockville Town Square."’ This is EXACTLY what is happening. Ridiculous. |
Read the comments in that article. Lots of complaints about inconvenient parking and overly aggressive parking enforcement. THAT is what needs to change. Adding an extra building will not save RTC. |
| I want unlimited free parking...but don't let metro or local workers park there and take up all the spaces. If I happen to over stay my meter, give me a break because I don't do it often. I just lost track of time. I want interesting unique small stores which I will almost never shop at..but I like the atmosphere they provide. Thanks Rockville! |
He is surely getting some benefit to talk like that. Facility designed for 1000 can't accommodate 2000 without impacting quality of education. Any idiot can see that. Adding portables doesn't take care of science labs, arts, music, Cafe and all other facilities which are not getting expanded. Who makes policy decisions based on some kids kids turning out fine. Vote against Mark Pierzchala if you don't want Rockville schools to be 150%. |
And if they don't survive then simply give subsidy and if that doesn't work then push kids education as lowest priority. These are our leaders. |
Evidently he and the mayor hate each other and do t talk except to get city business done. I’m definitely voting for Mark in the next election. I think it’s funny all these people that can’t vote in Rockville elections are hating on him. |
For a facility designed for 1,000 students, 150% capacity is 1,500 students. 2,000 students would be 200% of capacity. |
Adding an extra building = a whole building's worth of people who can patronize businesses at Rockville Town Center without parking. People who live there don't worry about inconvenient parking and overly aggressive parking enforcement for shoppers. In fact they might favor it. |
I CAN vote in Rockville and will not vote for him. I used to support him but no more. I was not always a supporter of Mayor Newton but think she has been a sensible leader and a strong advocate for the City with the county and state. |
Why? Just because he wants two small areas to continue to build? It won’t be in most of the city. |
?? I would think that most parents with kids attending RM, and worried about overcrowding at RM would be able to vote in the Rockville election. Why would they not? Unless they don't actually live in bounds, which I know happens quite a bit in MCPS unfortunately. |
Really? It's not just two small areas, when you look at the rest of the RM area. Over the past 5 years, with all the overdevelopment in the are, there have been hundreds of new housing units put up in the RM cluster. There are still vacancies at some of the apartment complexes near the Twinbrook Metro - at El Terano, at Escher, at Galvan. Plus, the new development of townhouses at Champman Row. If those all do fill up, it could potentially lead to hundreds of new students attending RM. |
Why do you consider it overdevelopment? |
DP.There are people zoned for Richard Montgomery HS who don't live in the City of Rockville, and there are also people who do live in the City of Rockville and aren't zoned for Richard Montgomery HS. |
If it’s only two small areas thenwhy the need to bump enrollment to 150%? Obviously he wants to build more in this cluster at the expense of overcrowded schools. |
