Pretty sure the job offer was contingent upon living EOTP.

That’s obviously not true, but even if it were he could live in one of the EOTP neighborhoods (Shepherd Park, Crestwood, Mt. Pleasant) that is inbounds for Wilson.

Crestwood is no longer inbounds for Wilson. The neighborhood is grandfathered for Deal and those who attend Deal get feeder rights to Wilson, but otherwise the assigned high school is Roosevelt.

Crest wood is also EOTP and zoned for Wilson. There were other neighborhoods EOTP that were options to him.

Crestwood is no longer zoned for Wilson. The only EOTP neighborhoods currently zoned for Wilson are Shepherd Park/Colonial Village and Mt. Pleasant.

PP again. Here’s a map for the current high school boundaries:

I am blown away by the chancelor’s lack of good judgment, both regarding initial housing choice and the decision to break the DCPS policy. Reading about the debacle he left behind in Oakland makes me think he struggles with cause and effect when making decisions.

Huh? What's that based on? Hardly anyone from DCPS Central lives in the city. Getting any one of them to live east or west is an accomplishment. If he lived anywhere in the city that would have fulfilled residency requirements.

We should not have people in Central Office who aren’t invested in DC public schools. They need to live in DC.

Bullying over that; you guys make up anything.

It was probably lack of actual craft/skills, long day or not a traditional HS experience.

I’m certain Ellington was the best option assuming he missed deadlines for SWW and Banneker to avoid Dunbar.

If he sticks around (not sure he can), wonder if their daughter would continue to be homeschooled or enroll in Dunbar.

In some disciplines, Ellington was still accepting students post-lottery last year. So the deadlines / application process were different for more people than the chamcellor’s daughter.

You seem to be knowledgeable. So how about dance?

I don't know. I just recall that Ellington was on the post-lottery 'seats available' list distributed by MSDC well into the spring.

Gonna be sexist here. In my family, and that of most of my friends, the woman / wife / mom are the ones who make housing and school decisions. My husband is consulted, but it's my decision.

In most families, the husband is not the chancellor of a school district who wrote a policy on this very issue in direct response to the previous administrator flouting the rules

This article once again points to the Mayor’s poor decision making and lack of transparency on the hiring process. He should never have been hired to begin with. And now he must go. Niles is gone and he has to go too.

Sure, but is your husband the chancellor of your kids' school district?
Different scenario here.

On Twitter yesterday, Grosso questioned Kathy Patterson's continued suitability for her position for saying Wilson has to go.

New poster. I know a little about Ellington. They are not looking for dancers with extensive training, just interested students with potential.
Also, can we stop with the "bullying" talk?
Ellington is not a hot bed of discipline issues. They are busy and focused, a good bunch of kids.

So he is not getting fired?

If he really stays, I’ve seriously made a wrong turn in my career- he gets to flout the rules he made and keep his $300k+ compensation package.

Don’t forget, he is only 45, with an unimpressive academic record and much, much criticism about how he performed in Oakland, including a $30 m budget deficit. I want to make that much money to be mediocre!

I don't entirely agree. There can be lots of reasons someone lives elsewhere that wouldn't call into question their investment in their jobs.

They need good people; not people who necessarily live in D.C. or send their kids to dcps.

Bowser has a requirement that heads of agencies and in some cases the second in commands must live in DC. This was a hallmark of the Fenty administration as well.
