I thought there were some interesting updates including a vm to the 2nd housekeeper Wednesday night

and
The police documents also show what appears to be an unusual amount of activity last week around the victims’ Woodland Drive home, in an upscale neighborhood near the vice president’s mansion. Neighbors reported seeing a man banging on door of one home, an aggressive vacuum cleaner salesman at another house, reports of a prowler, and what a witness believed could have been the Savopouloses’ blue Porsche speeding down the street the day before the deaths were discovered.

That article definitely has a lot of new info. Sounds like both housekeepers had worked for the family for a long time. It seems very strange that the housekeeper spent the night since the 2nd housekeeper said the former would "never" spend the night. Also odd that Savvas asked her to inform the other housekeeper's family because her phone battery was dead..why didn't he inform them himself?

probably didn't have the family's number

But theoretically the housekeeper was nearby..wouldn't she have/know the #? She could've called from one of their phones. I dunno, I may be reading into it too much.

I'm wondering the same thing -- why wouldn't the housekeeper have used someone else's phone or the landline to call her family?

1) The family would have expected her to speak in Spanish, and the murders didn't speak Spanish
2) She was already dead

NP here. I agree. Seems clear she was already dead. Which means the dad was in on it or was under the control of someone who was. Right?

I think so too. I think he was likely held hostage/being threatened.

I will now tell her to use this in a hostage (hopefully this will never happen) or other bad situations.

Yea, mine is Oscar tango poopies micrograms. Works well.

Interesting theory. It seems like in this case the police probably have no shortage of leads.

I don't believe that a "professional" would ever be caught on video. This was a random act by at least two thugs....

This may not have been a professional (though no one can completely avoid video surveillance today), but whoever it is seemingly took great care to cover every part of their body, and perhaps also to avoid more video surveillance than one would have thought was possible (as this is the only video found and released thus far). However, this is not a completely random act of violence. I think more likely it is a planned and intentional act by amateur perpetrators.

The key to finding this person is to zero in on his all-dark and covered attire that day, coupled with the fact that he was carrying a white industrial pail, like you see on so many job sites. It is clear that the perpetrators drove the Porsche around during the time period that the crime transpired, perhaps to run errands for their crime, in order to avoid having their own vehicle caught on surveillance cameras. Someone must have seen the driver of that Porsche. I would also focus on parking tickets in the neighborhood, to determine if any strange vehicles were ticketed overnight.

Are you saying the assistant would drop off a large sum of money outside the house and just leave, without double-checking with the boss? I doubt it.

A lot of crimes have been solved because of cameras but I don't think it deters crime. I do know this, living rural I have less fear of being a victim of crime than say someone urban.

Looks like the guy in the video has longish black hair escaping hood towards the end of the video?

They should also use surveillance video to look for any vehicles that were parked or loitering near the area where the surveillance video of the person of interest was obtained. This person was running to a waiting accomplice, in a van I suspect - since there is that pail (and any stolen goods), but perhaps not.

They recently lived in the Caribbean for a year. Why? Seems unusual for a family with kids to just take off and live in a foreign country for a year. What about school? Yes, I understand they could afford tutors. But that still seems odd.

The twitter link above said a law enforcement official said that the fire started in the boy's room. Chilling.

It's interesting that they went to the Caribbean (does anyone know where?) and that the husband had a job/investment opportunity in Puerto Rico. OTOH, if they were having the house renovated, and the daughters were away at boarding school, maybe it makes sense for the mom and boy to move to the Caribbean for one year. Did they have tutors for him or did he attend a day school? There are some excelllent elementary day schools in and near San Juan, PR. And, obviously, they could afford for the dad to fly back and forth from DC.

One of the daughters had a concussion for an entire year. That may be the reason they went to help her relax. The moms facebook page has a lot of articles about concussions and she even says they are lucky to only be dealing with the long terms effects.

I still say it's a socio-path a la Criminal Minds. No connection to family. I think the family and maids are totally innocent. I am sick reading all the accusations/suspicions raised against them. The perp(s) spent so much time there because they were enjoying torturing the family. Sorry, it's gruesome but it just seems like the only realistic scenario to me.

wow, i just googled the mother's Facebook page and we have a ton of mutual friends.
This is hitting way too close to home.

They were probably waiting to get some sort of pay off from the family. They could have been targeted because they were rich or because an employee or worker had a grudge. I'm still surprised the dogs weren't a deterrent and weren't killed themselves.
