17-18 like every other club that does 11 V 11. The roster was smaller because the girls left last year and they didn’t have the talent to backfill. I wouldn’t get too excited.

No talent to fill? Yet they still beat NVA, who had a 20 player roster. If anything, having 14 girls means more touches, more minutes, and more actual development for each player. Kudos to SYC for not just filling spots for numbers’ sake and instead prioritizing the girls growth and development.
Yea. Not knocking the roster size but rather explaining why the 2014s had a smaller team. NVA isn’t the gold standard so I’m not even sure why you would use them as any type of example
yet NVA is still ahead of them in GA and rankings. SYC plays kickball to the one elite player on the team. Majority of NVA players would displace SYC players.
This is a 2014 thread. Why are you talking about 2013s. Go to that thread.

Ok, How about SYC 2014 VS LS 2014? Let’s go!

This is cute. There’s no contest. Loudoun.
Not sure how I’m letting myself get baited into this dumb convo but they tied last time they played.
the ranking system is generally pretty accurate within some tolerance. Even at young ages. Loudoun 1st VA 51st in usa SYC 3rd VS 78 in usa.

Coach B has been purposely playing against lower skill leveled u13 teams all year. When they play appropriate leveled teams they do not out pro-form 6-0 anymore. I can't help but wonder why. SYC doesn't do this. Loudoun also plays down 2014 NVA girls to pad certain games/tournaments while SYC does not. They are not the same and you're obsessive tracking of stats that don't actually matter won't change that.

What a bunch of lies and BS. Nice try

These NVA players are posted in pictures on the team's insta at tournaments and games as well as the player's personal instas, some even wearing NVA jerseys. Cope harder. Elite players are a small community here and we all know of, if not are friends, with each other. Sorry that you're kid isn't one of them.

Nice condescending, self-congratulating tone here. "We" know all the "elite" 11 y.o. players bc we decided our friend group was the "elite." Sorry you're not one of them.

How do we know? Is there a USYNT U12 roster?

Most coaches know the best player at 12 y.o. is rarely the best player at 18 y.o. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Coach B was forced to take two players because of 20 kid roster on NVA. And taking a keeper and a bench player from 2013s is hardly game changing.

Well, maybe if NVA and Loudoun forced kids to play the new age groups, you’d have less issues. They created their own problems.

And Coach B isn’t forced to do anything.

What would the downside be for playing their new age group?
Ego hit

Because they decided to bloat the rosters.

My kid’s team has been playing against them since U9 and that same old style LS team had a few really talented kids, especially one midfielder who basically carried the whole squad. They also had a couple of strong defenders and a few fast forwards.

But honestly, the rest of the team was mostly just playing kickball clearing it from everywhere with no real buildup. Their style was super physical too, almost like WWE, just bullying and beating up opponents.

And truthfully, once that one midfielder moves on and puberty hit in this team won’t be much of anything.
Anonymous
I swear I get dummer every time I read these posts. It’s always people on the outside that really don’t know anything that have the most to say. If you want to believe your kids team is the “best in the DMV” go ahead… no one is stopping you. But a couple 2014s being dual rostered for the season to give them exposure in both playing environments and keep payers from sitting out isn’t the reason one team is better/ worse than another and it’s idiotic to claim it is.

Is that what he told you when he brought those girls over last year? Because I promise you that was not what has been happening since they jumped ship to Loudoun/NVA. It's no different than taking the twins because he wanted one but was told he had to take both or they wouldn't join.

yes a player who is a 2014 playing with there age group. Who has be unable to consistently get playing time with older girls. Don't get your issue. And again that 2014 squad is really good regardless of that. Stop the jealousy and go complain elsewhere.

Everyone needs to stop being so specific about kids here. Focus on the club, team and coach. Leave the specific kids out of this. Many of us in the know, know who are talking about and it is completely unacceptable, especially since we are talking about 10/11 year olds. None of us want people talking about our own kids so stop talking about others.

Thank you! I'm know nothing about the SYC teams, but still thought this was way out of line to be so specific about young girls.

None of us want people talking about our own kids so stop talking about others.

Thank you! I'm know nothing about the SYC teams, but still thought this was way out of line to be so specific about young girls.

Basically there’s a group of kids playing up on every team. It’s starting to show out that maybe, just maybe, they should play in the new age groupings. That’s pretty much all that’s being said.

Yes, when you’re a kid, you often train more. Kids who play up from U9-12 usually train more than other kids, and that’s why they seem better. Some of them are bigger, and some of them just practice more, so it looks like they have more skill.

But then the parents ego starts feeding into it, making them think their kid needs to keep playing up because they’re better than everyone else.

As time goes by, though, everyone improves. Eventually, the kid who was playing up can’t even keep up physically or mentally.

I think it’s better for kids to play at the correct level. If they aren’t one of the best players on the field, they should move down. And some of them, even when they go back to their own age group, still aren’t a top player there.

Parents need to stop pushing their kids too much out of pride. Is it really worth it just to say your kid is playing up? It isn’t healthy.

Just look around so many young kids are already wearing knee braces, ankle braces, and other supports. That doesn’t happen for no reason. A lot of them are overtraining at a very young age, and their bodies are breaking down before they even fully grow.

You can see that many kids who play up end up injured broken arms, joint problems, leg injuries, ankle injuries. Their bodies get damaged more than the kids who play at their actual age level.

you might play up when you’re at U-little. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to be playing up forever.

No one cares about SYC other than u-littles parents. They are a non-factor at older ages.
