She is ok moving down, but doesn't want to play with the 2014s at her current club. How do the 2014 teams in the DC region stack up? Anything in GA worth looking at? Any clubs have particularly strong coaches at U13?

If you’re willing to drive, McLean 2014 is the strongest group. Their girls even beat SYC in the National League.

That really doesn't mean much with the AG change, which is what we're trying to help the OP out with. These teams are all going to be very different in Fall 26.

Why doesn't mean much? I’m highlighting the strongest 2014 team in VA, which is the exact age group the OP is asking about for his kid. Yes, every team will be affected by the AG change, but that doesn’t mean the entire team suddenly becomes weaker. Strong teams will still remain strong.

McLean lost entire u13 team last year lol, no guarantees

A lot of them went to FVU, which is why the FVU 13s are doing so well. Some 2014s will leave if they want ECNL. But, I don't think there will be an exodus again.

What the PP said before and that was without the age change. You are moving around so many pieces, that the only constant are the coaches/club infrastructure. If you are looking at the highest level teams, they will be very very different than currently constructed at these age groups.

Why do you think this? I don’t have any actual knowledge other than observing what happened with the 2013s, but I was assuming most / all 2014s would go to Union.

Also without any actual knowledge other than what happened with the 2013s, I was assuming most / all 2014 Loudoun Red players would go to NVA. Heading into tryouts last year, a lot of people on these boards threw a lot of shade on NVA because of GA and FXU because of its feeder club's proclivity to get married and then divorced, but two very good 2013 squads looked past all that and did a "one for all and all for one" and joined those clubs en masse. Seems to be working out pretty well for both of them, so why wouldn't the 2014s do the same?

Really? I thought SYC 2014 handed McLean their butts to them. McLean 2014 is overrated — a shadow of the prior 2013 team.

Mclean beat SYC 3-0

Only took 6 players brought down from McLean 2013 to beat a completely made 2014 team.

The 2014 SYC squad out-possessed and controlled the game against a McLean 2014 team that even brought down six strong 2013 GA players. (Seriously, check the Veo if you don't believe it!)

If SYC bears any club, they dominated. If SUC loses, there’s always caveats. Love it.

Oh I thought McLean got beat by SYC in Arlington tournament 5-0. Speaking of Arlington didn’t McLean also lose to them 6-1 shortly after that. 2014 McLean is a paper tiger not in the same league as their 2013. Perhaps a sign that the best days are behind them.

You need to reach out to each club you're willing to drive to fit soccer practices and do ID sessions at each. Stay and watch from a distance and from that and your daughter's feedback you should get a pretty good feel for whether a club/team is a good fit. In general there is a big talent gap between 2013 and 2014 girls teams locally. Blame it on COVID or whatever you want; but if your top team daughter is moving down make sure she lands on a competitive team as there are less in that age group.
