They just got GA 2 1/2 years ago and prior to that, talented players left. But the talented players are now staying and they are attracting kids from multiple surrounding clubs. The stats support much higher levels of teams at SYC for the 2012 and younger age groups. |
The 2012 team is already showing signs of breaking apart. The other ages will follow the same path as the best players will eventually leave. |
I agree. They were dominate at ulittle ages, but now in big kid soccer land……not so much. Maybe it’s a coach issue. Or “favorites” issue. |
| SYC 2012 and The Football Academy NJ are twins |
Over reliance on athleticism and physicality in u little age groups focused too much on winning and rankings combined SYC instagram hype culture is not a recipe for success. |
Arlington 2014 will end up like Arlington 2010, 2008, 2008, 2007, 2006, etc. Middle of the road. Time will tell with Arlington 2011. The SY to BY change does not help them. |
Tell me a club in this area that develops players better than SYC in recent years. When you compare boys’ and girls’ pathways, very few clubs come close—maybe Bethesda is the closest. Losing one player from the 2012 GA team doesn’t mean the team is falling apart, they actually added good talent so let’s keep the conversation grounded in facts. |
SYC girls pathway? To what? |
I agree—very few clubs are actually developing players anymore. Clubs like VDA are a perfect example: instead of building talent, they’re leaning on older age‑group girls they pulled from FCV and calling it “development.” It exposes how thin the player pools at PWsi and VSA really are. They simply don’t have the depth, which is why they’re constantly scrambling to recruit from outside instead of producing their own talent. |
VDA produces plenty of in-house talent. Pretty sure a homegrown VDA player recently started for FSU and won a national championship. Trying trash VDA for attracting top talent isn’t a good strategy. Just gives them more publicity. Not that they need it. |
Like the SYC 2010s? One player from that team is considered a top talent in the DMV (no longer at Union or syc). The rest of that team doesn’t play anymore or are role players spread around the DMV. They did win lots of u-little games though! |
I’m pretty sure all clubs recruit? SYC are probably the hardest recruiters offering free tuition to top players willing to play for them. Free tuition and a spot on Marymount or Stevenson sounds great! |
| VDA also full pays |
She’s actually the Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year. The ECNL level in the Mid-Atlantic wasn’t strong enough, so she switched to the North conference. SYC didn’t offer National League back then, or she would’ve stayed. Thanks for keeping up. |

Let’s get back to 2014.
SYC is the only club that’s actually held ID sessions so far? |
