Aren't crossfield families zoned for oakton? That makes them oakton families. Would you feel the same way if Providence elementary was rezoned to Oakton should Crossfield move out?

Because demanding to be zoned to a specific school when there are closer schools is pretty eyeroll worthy.

Depends on where you live, not everyone is a Franklin farm person. It's a shorter drive to oakton for me than western.

There is no place in the Crossfield boundary that is closer to Oakton HS than the new Western HS, not even close.

Check the drive times.

They are calling themselves the Oakton Families. I did not hear one Oakton parent say that they were Crossfield or Navy only Oakton. They are branding themselves with that name as a part of their campaign.

Do the Oakton families not affected by the boundary change care enough to tell those families to stop it? No idea, but they have branded themselves as "Oakton Families."

Oakton HS has been reassigned with more and more kids zoned in fairfax HS, providence ES. You may have no emotional attachment to crossfield, you will for sure need to welcome more families you will be reassigned with.

I am Oakton family live in Oakton. To me, I love the idea of crossfield family stay within Oakton boundary. Yourself do not represent the rest of us Oakton family.

Come on guys! Crossfield is not asking to move to the new school like some SL family asked to move to the new school. All crossfield family is asking with no change for them and stay within boundary that they have been assigned to prior to this boundary review mass.

Why you guys hate crossfield/Oakton, no need.

Agree!

No change is by default.

I understand some family want to get out of current HS badly...and said really bad thing about them...

But crossfield at least is not competing with the nice facility with chantily/westfield/centreville.

Crossfield stay with no boundary change cost me taxpayer nothing. If crossfield move to the new western, it means I pay for crossfield move.

Crossfield tax payer pay for my kids enjoying the new school facility. I love this idea. Why not you?

Their drive time is not judged by you. If their parents do not mind the drive. Why would you?

Because some of the parents think the drive time is too long and want to go to the new school. Some parents are very devoted to Oakton regardless of the drive time. The schools population is divided, like every other school in this process. The Oakton split seems to be massive with the parents who want to move being worried about the social implications of loudly saying that they want to move and angering the families that want to stay.

If less crossfield family go to the new high school. It will save a lot spots for the surrounding ES that will be impact by the new school boundary, and less split feeder issues too. Plus many of the western schools are way overcapacity and have a stronger need.

Crossfield stay in oakton does not hurting my interest a single bit, but bring my kids more opportunity

Let us stop playing this jealousy jargon.

It seems like many more are in support of staying.

There are a lot parents drive their kids to far away private schools. I value sports, so I would drive my kids to sports regardless the driving distance.

Some parents prioritize sports, others academics.I certainly respect other parents who has different priority than me. Whatever reason crossfield is addicted to Oakton, they are entitled to stay with their border unchanged.

If they are divided within, maybe the family want to stay stay, the family want to leave, leave. Not up to my call. But I respect those parents do whatever is best for their kids..

To say that parents are entitled to stay at a certain school is wild. There should be stability for kids that need to transition, but the expectation that certain families are "entitled" to unchanged boundaries forever is absurd. This is the public school system.

Some properties have higher values due to the surrounding school so I can understand why people wouldn't want a change.

Oh yes, I understand WHY people don't want it to change, but to say that families are entitled to boundaries not changing is illogical and out of touch.

This is the same mom posting over and over. Probably the same mom who speaks for 10 minutes at all the community meetings.
