Navy doesn't feed into either of those. Only Oakton and Chantilly (very few, like 10%). Curious how it will be when they do the boundary changes.

Navy does not, but the AAP center does

Navy is an AAP center. You're maybe talking about schools that feed into Oakton.

I think she means that Navy's AAP center has kids that go to South Lakes.

The kids from Crossfield that choose to come to Navy for AAP (a very small amount) are not the ones slated for South Lakes. They are slated for Oakton.

Fairly certain this is an FCPS policy, not certain why this school feels its students deserve to be indoors earlier....teachers are not paid to arrive early to watch your children before school starts.

Then they need to fix the kiss n ride line so it moves faster if they shorten the drop off times. They can do this by posting adults at the top of the hill to enforce kids getting out of the cars earlier and keeping the line moving, but for some unknown reason they don’t. They don’t enforce kids getting out of cars earlier and instead let the entitled parents wait until they practically reach the front door to let their snowflakes out of their cars. They also allow parents to park at the top of the hill and walk down through the parking lot which also slows the line down tremendously. They have at least 2 adults down closer to the doors that just stand and wave. Why won’t they post an adult further up the hill?

So there are only two adults on duty? Are there patrols stationed along the sidewalk? If not, they should be. I’m a parent at Fort Hunt. We have a new K&R this year and it’s so much better. Patrols (about 10) and a few teachers are posted at cones all along the sidewalk. They stretch the length of the K&R sidewalk. As the line of cars pull up, the patrol or teacher opens the door and helps the student exit. Then all the cars pull forward and the next set of cars pull up. We are an immersion school, so there are a lot of car riders.

The other thing that helps is that cones are placed all along the curb edge on the road leading into the K&R. This prevents parents from parking and walking their child in.

This sounds reasonable. So naturally Navy won’t do it.

Maybe you perfect NAVY parents should volunteer your time to do duty!

Tell me where to sign up.

Ask the acting principal I bet they would love some parent volunteers

Sure. As soon as she comes out herself to help like the previous principal did.

Plus I’m sure she’s now busy dealing with another situation.

What situation is that?

So, where do the ones slated for South Lakes go? The FCPS website says they go to Navy. There not be any or many, but that is their option.

You're right. I have never thought about that but indeed it must be possible. At the end of every year, the high school seniors come do a walk thru of Navy. I have seen it a few times while volunteering for the eoy class party. I have never ever seen a South Lakes grad. Most are Oakton, some Chantilly, a few TJ, and a PVI or two but never a SL.

They tend to choose to stay at Crossfield and just do local level IV there bc if they go to Navy and make new Navy friends, all those friends will not be going to their high school.

Crossfield ES is the only elementary that sends kids to Navy for AAP. One neighborhood that goes to Crossfield sends kids to Hughes/South Lakes. Based on the number of kids that go to Navy from Crossfield, I'd guess this is 0 or 1 child every year.
