Duke doesn't have a singular top 10 engineering or non-professional grad school ranking. Head to head, Duke only out ranks 2 departments out of 8 or less against Northwestern, Penn, and Hopkins.

Again, it is overrated.

And yet students seem to care a lot more about Duke than going to school in Baltimore.

I don’t know why anyone thinks it’s bad if their department is 19th in the country

Hopkins’s students culture sucks. I wouldn’t want to go there either.

All you can do is troll when faced with facts. Pathetic look.

Here’s a fun fact I can throw your way:
Duke university yield: 56%
John’s Hopkins Yield: 54%
Clearly it isn’t affecting students too badly when it comes decision time.

Maybe if Duke enrolled the same freshman stats. Hopkins is enrolling a stronger student body compared to what Duke admits.

Hopkins SAT scores (enrolled): 1530-1560
Hopkins ACT: 34-35
Percent in Top 10%: 99%

Duke SAT (admitted): 1500-1560
Duke ACT (admitted): 33-35
Percent in Top 10%: 90%

Arguing JHU vs Duke for several pages with no stake and each knowing the other won’t change their mind is actually peak DCUM
Anonymous
it's not about convincing since the duke posters are thickheaded trolls. it's about showing facts when they over glorify an overrated school.

You picked a class profile from 5 years ago for class of 2023 for Duke while picking 2027 for John Hopkins… look at 2027 for both:

11% of the Duke student body are athletes and as a Power 4 school, nearly all are recruited.

A fair number likely don’t have top stats. However, do you think anyone cares that Cooper Flagg may not have top stats considering he will be the #1 NBA draft pick next year?

I see another post with recent Duke stats so it’s impressive they have these averages (though I get with TO the athletes may not be submitting) yet are still competitive in one of the hardest conferences.

Only 55% of JHU kids submitted scores vs 93% for Duke.

You think that missing 45% would bring JHU averages higher?

Mate you used Duke’s class of 2023 profile. Their class of 2027 profile is:

Duke SAT: 1520-1570
Duke ACT: 34-35

Also they’re an athletic powerhouse which would bring down their scores. They actually have better averages than Stanford who also admits lots of athletes. Duke and Stanford are basically the gold standard for combining academics and athletics.
Anonymous
stanford is the gold standard. let’s not conflate duke with stanford athletics which has higher standards for athletes and more ncaa championships by far

Political Science (the single biggest feeder into law schools)? Statistics? Public Policy? All top 10.

Srsly, what kind of ranking system ends up with 4 6s in a Top 10. It's like they didn't get the assignment OR there's practically no difference in the education on offer.

There is no difference in the education on offer at these and dozens of other colleges. But the game of pretending is a fun sport.

What are the biggest similarities and differences between JHU and Princeton based on your research?
