I think they came out and said he is after they already named their top 4. I don’t think Newsom or Whitmer will jump in as VP to keep the possibility of 2028 should Harris not win

I think picking someone from NC or AZ would be foolish because I find it a massive stretch to think those are winnable for Harris. She has polled even worse than Biden in AZ and Biden has been polling horribly there.

She needs to pick someone well liked from Pennsylvania or Michigan or Wisconsin. Those are must wins if Georgia and Arizona are going back to red this year. Which I believe they will.

She could pick Whitmer but I think that’s a bit risky. Shapiro would be a safer bet.

What clever politician would give up a current gig as senator or governor to be Kamala’s sidekick in a doomed campaign?

I don’t think she will win, but she increases her odds if she picks someone popular from a state that is a must-win. Like Shapiro.

But the left wing Dems are pissed about Israel's attacks in Gaza. Shapiro would make the ticket too Jewish, don't you think?

I worry about that, too. He has been quite vocal in his support of Israel, which I respect, he’s Jewish, but which will alienate a chunk of the base, particularly the college/young adult voters who’ve been demonstrating for Gaza/Palestine. It would be better to sidestep that deep rift in the party.

Shapiro being Jewish is a problem, unfortunately. I think she should not pick him.

I agree. It will be Kelly, Cooper, or Beshear.

Cooper's too old. Kelly or Beshear. I like Kelly best. For the person who talked about a failed campaign, don't count your chickens.

I'd love to see Andy Beshear. He's not from a swing state, but there is just something very engaging about him.

The argument against Mark Kelly is that he’s a slam dunk senator who will be elected and re-elected again and again in AZ, a swing state, as long as he wants to run. The senate margins are always super slim and the DNC doesn’t want to risk that seat going R at any point.

At least the governor is a dem and would appoint a dem to the seat. They’d run a special election in 2 years with a dem incumbent. Not a horrible thing

Can’t have two from California.

There's *alot* of baggage with him. That would be a suicidal pick.

Beshear feels to me like the safest choice. And he looks straight out of central casting. Kelly a close second.

Was Kathy Hochul not being considered???

Phil Murphy not getting a nod is wild, he's done a great job in Jersey

John Bel Edwards from Louisiana would be solid. Won twice in a deep red state, pro-life democrat...he knows how to speak to the flyover states

It’s true, and he’s definitely in the running. But right now as a senator, he’s McCain, but a Democrat, and his seat is rock solid. That’s a race they barely have to invest in at all every 6 years and there’s something to be said for it. But with a D gov to appoint a replacement IF he is tapped and they win, that’s what’s keeping him in the running. If AZ had a R governor to do the appointment no way in hell.
