I think picking someone from NC or AZ would be foolish because I find it a massive stretch to think those are winnable for Harris. She has polled even worse than Biden in AZ and Biden has been polling horribly there.

She needs to pick someone well liked from Pennsylvania or Michigan or Wisconsin. Those are must wins if Georgia and Arizona are going back to red this year. Which I believe they will.

She could pick Whitmer but I think that’s a bit risky. Shapiro would be a safer bet.

What clever politician would give up a current gig as senator or governor to be Kamala’s sidekick in a doomed campaign?

I don’t think she will win, but she increases her odds if she picks someone popular from a state that is a must-win. Like Shapiro.

But the left wing Dems are pissed about Israel's attacks in Gaza. Shapiro would make the ticket too Jewish, don't you think?

I worry about that, too. He has been quite vocal in his support of Israel, which I respect, he’s Jewish, but which will alienate a chunk of the base, particularly the college/young adult voters who’ve been demonstrating for Gaza/Palestine. It would be better to sidestep that deep rift in the party.

I love Whitmer and it would be so great to have them as the ticket but I think it has to be a man.

Mark Kelly is amazing but I could see his wife's life story become a weird conspiracy story because it's all so improbable and singular. He would be too much of a target; he's almost too perfect.I also think the pro-gun control aspect might hurt. But maybe I'm wrong.

I think boring and southern would possibly be better. Roy Cooper is older and I think younger would be better but he's from NC and termed out. They don't lose anything with him. He's my pick today. Yesterday it was Shapiro or Kelly.

Shapiro being Jewish is a problem, unfortunately. I think she should not pick him.

Plus she has too much baggage from her association with Biden. I wish another candidate would step up that we can get behind. I really don't like that the first woman president may potentially get there by default. Ugh

Come on. Do you seriously not think she’s smart? You don’t have to like her but attacking her intelligence is silly.

She may be smart. But she has been the butt of so many poor performances on the world stage. Everyone voting for Biden knew she would have to become president eventually as no way he could finish a full 4 years. She is not liked and he even thought of replacing her o the ticket in late 2023 as she was a drag on his numbers.

Surely there is someone else? However yo will see every democrat praise how amazing she is in the surface to help her election, but these were the same democrats who said she would have no chance at beating trump and that is why until recently, Biden was staying in. He saw poll numbers that showed Harris doing poorly.

But sure, let’s trust all the Dems saying how amazing she is. Same ones up until 4 weeks ago were saying Biden is mentally fit, energetic, in his way to beating Trump. How did that work out?.

I didn't care for her in '19 and '20, but there were so many good candidates and I was with another. She's grown tremendously. Her remarks to the campaign staff were awesome. She has not put a foot wrong since this was announced.

+1 And she didn’t put a foot wrong since Biden’s debate performance either, for three weeks of angst and turmoil and leaks out the wazoo which must have been very difficult.

Not if you aren’t seen or heard from publicly.

She gave an interview right after the debate. Perhaps it’s your media consumption that’s failing you.

Too bad Trump never learned the saying “it’s better to keep quiet and be thought a fool…..”

Why was Kamala kept quiet for 3 plus years?

It’s not her problem if you have selective hearing and memory.

I really do hope Harris picks Kelly. We really need a moderate like Kelly IMHO.

He is relatable to the majority of Americans on multiple issues as he is a moderate. This would be the smartest pick. If she doesn't pick Kelly that would be her biggest mistake.

I agree. It will be Kelly, Cooper, or Beshear.

She shouldn't be making any decisions based on college voters.

Not sure it’s a good idea to have a candidate and VP who are both from the western US.

I don't see why that matters. Kelly would bring in votes from those who decided not to vote and would pull votes away from Trump.

Yes, but you could argue the same about Beshear or Cooper, who would also bring more geographic diversity.

Don’t get me wrong—I like Kelly. Just playing devil’s advocate.

I think Kelly’s military career gives him the edge, especially against JD Vance.

I also think having Gabby Gifford on the trail to speak to gun violence is a huge plus of. Kelly run too.

Beshear and his wife are both deacons in their church, which theoretically would help with evangelicals.

Kelly’s military background is great, but he’s also perceived as anti-gun (with good reason!), which could counteract his appeal among those most impressed by his military service.

Cooper is too old.

Why not Terry McAuliffe???
