It will also be interesting to see this get fact-checked.

Over 20 pages on this topic just today indicates why they are airing all their private issues in public, especially here in the US. The audience for it is literally endless.

This idea that Charles and William were sitting around plotting on how to make Meghan look bad in the press to somehow make William look better in comparison is ridiculous. Yes, there seemed to be more leaks about Meghan, but that was because she treated her staff badly. If you are in a highly visible position, you have to be an idiot (or a narcissist) to treat the people who know all your secrets with anything but the utmost respect.

A good comparison is the President and the Secret Service. The Secret Service is sworn to confidentiality — except for the First Families who treat them like dirt. You notice that there were no leaks about the Obamas? In comparison, lots of leaks about the Clintons. Biden let his dog bite his agents (apparently multiple days in a row & accused the agents of lying, before it was sent away?) and now it’s rumored he complains about how he doesn’t trust them not to talk (well, duh!). I can tell you which Senators treat their staff badly by how much stuff gets leaked to the press.

The BRF wasn’t stamping out leaks about the Queen because they didn’t have to. She treated her staff with grace and respect and they rewarded her with loyalty and silence.

Not really. This story will burn bright, but have a very short half life.

Selling their story not only shares their story (which didn't get told for a time) and brings in money. They're not working royals and thus need to make a living. This is one avenue they're using. Many people have done the same thing.

Also in the book: Harry confirms he's circumcised. Terribly important news.

+1 to all of this

she wagged a finger at me after I made a snarky comment about hormones...

he pushed me back after we got in a face to face shouting match about my wife bullying people....

This is a lot of ruined relationships over pretty petty family conflicts.

The confrontation escalated, Harry writes, until William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.

The extraordinary scene, which Harry says resulted in visible injury to his back, is one of many in Spare, which will be published worldwide next week and is likely to spark a serious furore for the British royal family.

… After William complained about Meghan, Harry writes, Harry told him he was repeating the press narrative and that he expected better. But William, Harry says, was not being rational, leading to the two men shouting over each other.

Harry then accused his brother of acting like an heir, unable to understand why his younger brother was not content to be a spare.

Insults were exchanged, before William claimed he was trying to help.

Harry said: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”

That comment, Harry says, angered his brother, who swore while stepping towards him. Now scared, Harry writes, he went to the kitchen, his furious brother following.

Harry writes that he gave his brother a glass of water and said: “Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.”

He writes: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Harry writes that William urged him to hit back, citing fights they had as children. Harry says he refused to do so. William left, Harry says, then returned “looking regretful, and apologised”.

When William left again, his brother writes, he “turned and called back: ‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.’

The story about Kate and Will encouraging Harry to dress in the Nazi costume is the worst one in my opinion. It's one thing for 20 year old Harry to have bad judgment--he'll never have an important role in Britain. But the future king and queen?

WOW. This grown ass man is completely unable to take any responsibility for his actions. Is he really trying to blame this particular event on anyone other than himself? It completely diminishes his credibility on other topics.

I think he solely took responsibility for that action for more than a decade. But if he says that Will and Kate also egged him on, he's got a right to share his story.

I actually think all of the criticism for this is unfair - the rules changed very recently and this event preceded the time when dressing like a bad guy was no longer acceptable. But when he starts defensively pointing a finger at his brother and SIL, who he used to have a good relationship with, it's just pathetic. None of them knew better at the time. Now they all do. He can say whatever he wants, but that doesn't mean he should.

I thought dressing like a Nazi fell out of acceptance in 1945.

+1 and if he is truly concerned for the security of his family, plain stupid!

If true, I find this mind boggling.

I totally agree. However, it seems ironic that so many people who are discussing this are shocked that they want to air it all in public. They are the audience for it, they are the ones keeping it front and center, they are supporting H&M in concept whether they admit it or not.

I hope Spare is clearer than this DailyMail article. Meghan makes a comment about hormones that sets Kate off at the bridal salon, but then somehow (at a different point in time?) William shows up and waves a finger in her face and that makes Meghan cry?

The way I read this is that there was a confrontation after the bridal salon exchange.

Man if someone I barely knew told me I had "baby brain" I would be LIVID. Is anyone else seeing this as William defending his wife?

I'm surprised that Harry put this in his book as a way to make himself and Meghan look good and William and Kate look bad. Maybe he put it in for accuracy and as an admission that they made mistakes too? It certainly doesn't reflect well on either Meghan or Harry. I'd be livid if someone called me baby brain too, whether my best friend or a new SIL.

But didn't MM say on Oprah that Kate made her cry? The story keeps changing.

Well, I won't buy any of their books and have not watched any of their Netflix productions, just dropped in on an entertaining gossip-y thread. Don't see how that helps them at all.

She sure did, and it sure has. It beggars belief that ANYONE here despite the ludicrous claim thought it was ok to say because hey girl worse things have been said!! The context was obviously a disagreement where the not yet pregnant Meghan insulted Kate as having baby brain. While they were obviously mad, each of them. Tell me how that’s ok, and feminist, and not at all using ugly stereotypes about women (sorry, I can play words have no meaning too- I meant archetype not stereotype). Please.

The part about William's baldness is just...weird. I mean he's going bald too, so what is that about?
Anonymous
Imho he lost credibility when he mentioned talking to his mom through some woman. He needs to take mental health seriously and not get into controversy after controversy with family, friends and press. No amount of money or popularity can give one peace of mind.
