You really do live in a bubble don't you

The GOP is pushing hard to make masks the next flashpoint. Do not let them. Yes, there will soon come a time, it looks like, when possibly we wont need masks. But that time is not this month and it's really too soon to say if it's next month. It's not exactly a hardship to wear them in the meantime, and we all need to do our part to keep case numbers low.

Arguments like "masks don't work," or "my child is suicidal because masks" are coming straight from Koch and Cato and the rest of those losers. Please, don't be dumb.

The fact that you would state this completely discredits your argument.

You have no idea when "the time" is; no one does, not even the CDC. It's all a guess at this point.

The time HAS come for everyone to take their own risk level and move forward with life. I am 100% comfortable going without masks and sending my kids to school without them. That is the issue now. The time has come for independent choice.

Look, dude. I get it. You think you've got a cause. I mean, I'm sure your wife would agree that it's fantastic you have hobbies. Good for you!!!

But your weird eugenics fantasy is really just a reflection of your bad high school experience and your desperate desire to be a part of something. To think you're a winner!! I know, you read the Fountainhead in high school and you're pretty sure you're Howard Roarke? And I think that's okay. It's not like you have a lot besides these fantasies. Frankly, I'd be surprised if you actually have a wife and kids, but let's pretend. We can pretend you're a parent. In Maryland. If you want. And you can keep making up all this bullshit as long as you want. We are here for you and your King Crimson lyrics.

That may be -- but NJ is doing away with the school mask mandate and that state is solidly blue.

Probably because most people have now had covid multiple times. You may be ok with getting covid, but some of us aren't. We absolutely need masking and schools should go virtual during surges.

Its all about elections/votes.

How do you propose making an independent choice when your choice impacts someone else? If you choose to send your entitled child to school unmasked and they bring in covid, its an issue for the entire school that you spread it to.

The only way to do that would be to have separate schools for the entitled families and the families who care about the community good.

I'm afraid changes are coming whether you like it or not. I am not sure how I feel about it. I may make DD still wear a mask - we'll see what the numbers look like when we get there.

Boy, this is so disheartening and scary. 2 years into a pandemic…and the inability to do risk calculation.

I hope (and pray) this poster is in the minority. And we have elected leaders smart enough to know that we can no longer cater to a handful of lunatics.

Nobody is saying you can’t wear a mask or put your kids in virtual school. But don’t force it on the rest of us. I’m smart enough to know my risk, and I’ve seen 1st hand the damage this county did to our kids. Science (and normal left leaning parents like me) says it’s time to move to another phase.

+1. PP if you’re that averse to getting Covid then it is up to you to mask, stay home and protect yourself. It’s not up to the rest of us to keep you from getting Covid by wearing silly masks everywhere. Sorry but that’s how it works
