Probably because most people have now had covid multiple times. You may be ok with getting covid, but some of us aren't. We absolutely need masking and schools should go virtual during surges.

I hope (and pray) this poster is in the minority. And we have elected leaders smart enough to know that we can no longer cater to a handful of lunatics.

Nobody is saying you can’t wear a mask or put your kids in virtual school. But don’t force it on the rest of us. I’m smart enough to know my risk, and I’ve seen 1st hand the damage this county did to our kids. Science (and normal left leaning parents like me) says it’s time to move to another phase.

Sigh. People that think this are taking the easy way out. It's easier to blame a unvaccinated 6 year old than it is to acknowledge the facts.

And the facts are that the next mutation will likely come from one of two sources:

- a foreign underdeveloped nation that does not have access to the vaccines. Frankly we should be pushing our government to be a leader in getting vaccines to these countries. That may mean that our teenagers don't get boosted, or that our 5-11 year children don't get boosters in the spring, but it's the right thing to do

- an animal reservoir There is literally nothing we can do about this. The virus can go from human to animal and from animal to human. The next mutation may come from the wild deer population and then transmit to human.

This is why zero covid is not only impossible, its also foolish and naive. and getting yourself worked up into a tizzy over those you think are responsible is just plain stupid

That's not a negotiation. There's a definition of a pandemic. We're still in one. We're not close to being out of one. The only people saying we are are saying it for political reasons.

I feel like I've heard we are moving towards endemic status. Where are you hearing we're not close to being out of pandemic status? Fauci said it could be this year (obviously with the caveat that we don't get another variant).

We are living with it. Most people aren't doing much of anything so I don't get all the drama. Very few people are taking real precautions still.

We are living with it. Most people aren't doing much of anything so I don't get all the drama. Very few people are taking real precautions still.

Be honest - Covid will always kill not because people are not masked at the Giant. Americans are unhealthy. Obese folks account for over a third of hospitalizations. I don’t see that changing.
