What is your proposal? |
You think psychologists want that? |
The big issue is threat of retaliation. Ask why the brother of the suspect brought a knife to school today. To protect himself from retaliation? Maybe. To hurt others? I don't know. But that is the question. There are ongoing beefs among kids that are getting violent and staying violent. Cops are there today to make sure nothing happens in the days after. This year, in particular, we really need them there full time. The kids are not OK after this pandemic. They just aren't. Any kid can get a ghost gun. They can order them online. https://www.ghostrifles.com/build-kits/ Please wake up, folks. |
There are no rookies who become SROs. Most SROs are very experienced. They have a special application process to become an SRO. Well, they did. Even if the county wants to put them back in schools, I doubt they will be able to find any cops who want to do it anymore. |
Of course they are, but this isn't a battle for who is the least hypocritical - it's an election. Jawando gave up a significant advantage and opened himself up to totally justified criticism with the lawsuit followed by enrolling his kids in private school when he didn't get the W feeder he was gunning for. |
They think social workers will prevent it all. And I'm 100% for more social workers and mental health support. But it's not enough. It never has been. |
My guess is he won't run again. He has a book deal, which is probably what led to buying that house. |
Jawando has dreams of being the next president. |
Yes, he does. But he burned bridges in the Obama administration. And he hasn't made many local political friends, either. |
I saw he had a book coming out but it looked pointless. Does he have a job? |
Then he should listen to me: DCC teacher AND parent. I grew up poor. I don’t want cops stationed in our schools. |
All the social workers and mental health support in the world will do nothing to stop gang violence, which I’m still 100% convinced this was. |
They didn’t “protect kids” somebody called them and they arrested the kids. It’s not some magical thing that it’s a school, it happens every day all over. People want a cop they call them they show up and arrest people. |
What do you think they can do? |
So, what do you suggest be done to protect students? |
