My kid goes to a non W school and I'm black. The answer to your question is no. Don't roll your eyes at me.

You entirely missed the point. Look at the racial make up of some of the self-segregating W schools.

The schools suffering the most whether you want to admit it or not are high FARMs schools with a significant number of high needs students coming from unstable environments. And yes, we do have some gangs in our schools. We need our SROs back. Black and brown kids want to be safe too. I don't want to see another text from my child while at school telling me how scared she is.

No, we don't need SROs back and Black and Brown kids don't feel safe around them. We need more guards, counselors etc... and call the police when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.
You want SROs back so Ian and Madison can feel safe. You could not care less about the well being of Black and Brown kids.
You are repeating the same old sad story like when y'all pretending you wanted school open in person for the well being of poor Black and Brown kids, please.

For the love of God, PLEASE stop talking on behalf of all black people. I'm.black and my kid is black. We are not Madison or Ian and we want SROs back. You do not know what it's like to get text messages from your child begging for us to pick her up from school because of rumors that some gang fight is about to start or because she's scared from going through another lockdown.

Sure, you are

Stop making this about race. All kids deserve to feel safe, not just those of specific skin colors you choose as your talking points.

What is the difference if we have SRO's or security guards? They are basically the same thing. But, bottomline is they are NOT providing more funding for more security guards or counselors and the SRO's are probably funded by the police vs. MCPS.

And, bring in more security will make things physically safer but you still aren't addressing the underlying problems. Schools have counselors and security guards and are having these issues. There is more to it.

Then why are you so insisting on SROs? Especially since most minorities don't feel safe around them? Because you don't care about them. It's as simple as that.
Guards, counselors, therapists in; SROs out.

Show me a validated survey of Montgomery County residents that shows most people of color don’t feel safe about police in general or SROs in particular. Otherwise, you are talking out your ***.

MCPS is not allocating any more money to mental health professionals and guards. SRO's are funded differently as they are police.

And, security guards and therapist aren't going to fix this problem alone. Be real. This problem is far bigger than that.

People keep using minorities as the talking points. In MCPS, in many schools the minorities are the majority.

I see you don't have kids in MCPS otherwise you would have known. You think the kids who spoke at the BOE regarding SROs are not valid? Oh, you probably didn't know about that.

NP here. You don’t address the PP’s point. The request is for data (a survey of students or MoCo residents, for example) that demonstrates widespread feelings about SROs. Your response that a few students talked to the BOE doesn’t fit the bill. The only true data we received is that 100% of principals wanted to keep SROs. (Yes, I did watch the BOE meetings.)

I do. And he's been assaulted twice since school started. The kids who spoke at the BOE are valid but they are a tiny minority of students. They just happen to be very vocal. But they do not represent all students. Not in any way, shape or form.

If your child has been assaulted twice, TWICE since school started, why on earth wouldn't you want SRO's in the school. Or, better, why are you keeping your child at a school that they've been repeatedly assaulted and its only mid-November. There is no way my kid would go back after the first assault, let alone the second.
