Lockdown at Blair?

It's as if the stabbings at the W's are contagious!

Stabbed outside in the parking lot is what I heard. Huge relief there were no guns.

This has become the bar for "relief"

No wonder MCPS is losing so many students...

I think the PP was being sarcastic.

Anytime it’s gun violence, there is an outcry to ban guns. As if by banning guns, we would prevent tragedies. Clearly there are other ways that people get injured - knives seem to be the weapon of choice lately.

Wow. That is absolutely terrifying.

My 8th grader applied to the Blair HS magnet because she loves Math, but this will definitely make me reconsider if she gets in.

As though stabbing 1 person in a parking lot were totally comparable to killing 20 first-graders and 6 adult school staff members in a school building in 5 minutes.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

PP, with all due respect, this would be a major overreaction. Would you also reconsider about your 8th grader going to Whitman or Churchill?

There were several resident incidents at w and other schools as well.

It’s almost as if the bad guys know that they can get away with criminal acts when there are no police/SROs/LEO around. Imagine that!

You should be aware that this Twitter account is run by a 17-year-old high school student who listens to police scanners.

We are not zoned for Whitman or Churchill. Cannot afford those areas!

No police around? What are you talking about? The Montgomery County Police Department alone has about 1,300 police officers.

What it makes me think is that our kids are stressed beyond belief by the past 24 months. They are teens who have developing brains that don't always assess risk or are able to act appropriately "in the moment." Not making excuses AT ALL - but we need to recognize and start making holistic changes to help them - not just create tiny jails with police officers and weapons scanners. That does nothing to alleviate whatever is causing the problems.

No. You should be ashamed of yourself. Pretending that any of this violence is about the weapon used. It’s not. It’s about the person doing the act. If not guns or knives, it’s something else. Until we fix that, banning guns or knives or any other weapon is just a farce.

Fight in the parking lot, says Twitter.

So normal Blair stuff.

No. If there was a stabbing in the staff parking lot, as is being reported, this is not normal for Blair (or any other MCPS school). Not at all.

But if you ask anybody in MoCo if this is surprising, I'd bet most would say "no".

Only if you ask W parents.

This opinion is despicable.

I’m the PP, I wasn’t being sarcastic. I was relieved it wasn’t a shooting situation. I’d support a gun ban. I like my kid’s odds against a knife vs. a gun. Do you even go here?
