US has no good options in Ukraine

My car is a hybrid, and gas costs more every day. My house is cold because I keep it at 65 degrees. I'll keep it at 50 degrees if it will save Ukraine. I've got sweaters, and it will be warmer soon. But once Ukraine ends up in Russian hands, that's it. So many Ukrainians have died for what? A madman is murdering an entire country, destroying beautiful, irreplaceable cities.

He's going to win a pile of rubble with almost no value by the time he's done.

Reducing Ukraine to "a pile of rubble" is in Russia's strategic interest ... at least, according to Putin's logic.

If Putin cannot bend Ukraine to his will, then he won't let the West have her either.

Putin would rather destroy Ukraine than allow her to continue to build economic and military ties with the West.

It is in us interest to have Russia tied up in the rubble.

We need to arm Ukrainians to the teeth but not too much.

Unlimited Javelins and top tier isr to every man woman and child

But no Sams or fighter jets.

Keep small arms and isr flowing non stop

Biden is so far doing this masterfully.

And Russian permanent residents need to be out in internment camps. Got it!

At this point, if they truly support Putin, yes.

He said we need to give Ukraine the weapons they need to fight.

Not win. He needs to change his mindset to the fact that Ukraine can WIN this war.... not just fight it.
And, the weapons they need, Biden has said he will not provide.

It’s not in us interest for Ukraine to win

Ideal situation is to have Russians tied up and bleed and burned slowly for years in Ukraine.

That is the IC view - Atleast with some I know.

It’s the kissengerian view

I personally understand the logic — I dunno if I trust us policymakers to strike that fine line in managing this conflict at just the right temperature

The heritage west (5 eyes, France, etc) while more affected about ukrainian deaths than brown people deaths in Middle East/Afghanistan, are not really as truly affected by Slavic people beating up each other as there is an instinctive divide between Slavs and people west of Berlin.

The iron curtain still persists in ways people can’t readily see but subconsciously it does exist

It is pretty disgusting that we are not giving them what they NEED as their population is tortured, raped, and slaughtered.

The only reason you want to get involved in this conflict and not others is that people are getting killed by the people you happen to dislike. If it was the country you approve of, you’d be like I dunno…arent there good reasons and stuff? It’s not all black an white Iran extremist Shia strategic allies something…

Putin has already started hot nuclear war with the United States. The threat is the same as a missile launch. So, the WWIII horse is already out of the barn.

The pictures coming out of Ukraine just disgust me. F$&#^ Russia; I cannot describe how much I absolutely despise that country and each and every person who supports their current regime.

Because this is their homeland. They do not want to be ruled by a tyrant.
You must not understand that for many people, freedom is worth sacrificing one's life.

Well, the person you are responding to likely has tantrums around the freedom not to wear a mask during a pandemic, not understanding what ACTUAL freedom entails.

I mean, the patriots to the PP are the people who attacked the Capitol, whereas in Ukraine, the patriots in Ukraine are DEFENDING the capital.

It does sort of make one realize just how stupid and silly the US has become (Yes I’m pointing at you Trump and Koch acolytes and anyone courting totalitarianism and the unwitting fools caught up in it all)

Ukrainian grandmas armed and ready to give their lives to defend their country and families facing an actual real danger willing to defend their democracy and country. And normal Citizens in Russia willing to go to jail or worse living under a dictator but still protesting what their government, and not a swastika in sight. Really really brings home how absolutely stupid the right wing nuts in this country have become and how they are trying to drag good and decent people lives down. It also can’t help but be reminded of the images from Jan 6 from the capital that were beamed around the world. What a contrast. Wow!

Ugh with your stupid butt hurt wah I don’t want to wear a mask and you can’t make me, ban books that run counter to my personal beliefs, grievances and your stupid sons taking your families weapons stash to movie theaters and kindergarten classrooms to shoot up little kids.

Well guess what this is what it looks like when you get what you want. This doesn’t end well for Ukraine but it really really doesn’t end well for Putin. Stop your histrionics. Button up and get it together. Sniveling fools. You are collectively sick and this country would be so much better off without you.

Rant over.

This from weeks and weeks ago has aged pretty well. Also, the Kochs want to drop all sanctions and let Russia win.

I think anyone in the US with Russian citizenship who supports Putin should be sent home and have their papers revoked. That's not cruel, that's what they deserve.

You don't get to both enjoy the comforts of the West while facilitating and enabling a vicious dictator who wants to destroy the West. Get your heads right.

Yeah, I am not sure what the US is waiting for. We literally revoked citizenship for Germans during and after WW2 and deported them. Putin is same level evil as Hitler.

I have no problem with Russians who recognize what Putin is doing and who accordingly want to help Ukraine. But I have no interest or sympathy for any Russian who still supports murderous butcher Putin and think they should be sent back to Russia.
