I can totally see this. Don’t necessarily believe it is true but it’s totally believable.

It is believable. Reminds me of the rumors about why Solange beat Jay-Z in the elevator while her sister just stood there. Sometimes the stronger woman tries to support the wife and she is wasting her breath.

Tinfoil on sale today?

I know this is an anonymous forum and anyone can say anything but the person is a journalist (on much more substantive matters which you may have read in real life) who happens to also be British. The person always has all kinds of sources. They laid it all out there on our work slack account.

So your British ex pat journalist colleague in the US thinks she knows more than all the papers in the U.K. Right.

DP. Not saying whether I believe this one way or another but UK journalists knowing this to be the case and publishing it are two different things. There is a pretty good piece that came out a few years ago on TMZ and how common it is for tabloid journalist to hold off on publishing unflattering stories in favor of scoops on other famous people and/or increased access. Bill Cosby, for example, gave a paper a negative story about his daughter in exchange for them not publishing something on his rape accusations years before that story broke. Similarly, Justin Bieber gave a bunch of exclusives to TMZ concerning his relationship with Selena Gomez because they had obtained a video of him saying the n word.

+1

According to you. Others may beg to differ.

I thought it was quite well written and lays out how she was once seen to how she’s seen now. I think PP nailed it. MM not coming off well at all. Of course everyone will blame her even if H agreed to how this played out.

Oh please. I guess sock puppeting is par for the course.

I write the long post, but not the one above yours. No sock puppet in here. Sorry.

Actually I care about Meghan Markle because she was raised by a single mom, was the subject of unrelenting emotional and psychological abuse at the hands of her father and half-siblings, which played out in front of the entire world -- what a shitty and crazy way to treat a daughter, to treat a half-sister!! Crazy and brutal and disgusting -- and yet she prevailed. She succeeded despite all odds, and she succeeded spectacularly.

So that's why I'm in her corner, if you'd like to know.

I think she lived with her father for quite some time, and he paid for her expensive private schooling and gave her a springboard in Hollywood through his connections. I don't think this counts as "unrelenting abuse."

I don't think she succeeded against all odds - she was born to privilege and it must be said, worked tirelessly to grow it.

Her father used her for publicity. Her half-brother said publicly that it was not too late for Harry to back out. Her sister will tell anyone who will listen how horrible she thinks Meghan is.

You try living through that kind of torture. See how you turn out.

It's rather interesting how it's never Meghan's fault. Ever. It's always someone's else's fault. Her father, her half siblings, the presses, racism, the royal family, everyone else except Meghan Markle....

Isn't that an amazing coincidence, eh? I mean, everyone is against Meghan. Wow, how did she cope.

All boyfriends/husbands in Meghan's life have been White. Coincidence? I think not!

Well, how dumb was she too marry one, then?

*to

Fixed it for you.

Can you imagine? Marge from accounting is a reliable palace source who is trusted by Keren from HR.

Not plausible.

Meghan and Kate definitely didn’t have the kind of relationship where Kate would confide in her. Not a chance.

And Meghan is smart enough not to suggest such a thing.

This is where he might get into trouble about thinking everything through. I am not sure about Meghan she graduated from Northwestern, but the Royal Family is like nothing else.

Not a lot upstairs, but a good heart. That is easily taken advantage of...

My money is on Harry.

Actually I’m envisioning a fight like the one between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth’s characters in Bridget Jones’s Diary. Lots of kicking at each other LOL.

Except they were not. She just used the royals as as stepping stone.

I imagine it's the same 1-2 internet warrior who keeps posting this racism meme over and over again.

I suspect they are employed by Sunshine Sachs or whoever their keyboard warriors are this week. The narrative is relentless, if implausible.

Is this the moment this thread officially jumped the shark?

I'm not saying her father is an angel. But I don't think he paid for her private schooling to use her for publicity. Certainly she wasn't raised by "a single mother" if she lived in her dad since age 11 and benefited from his Hollywood connections.

Do I think it's fun, no. But I lived through civil war and bombing and dental filling done with no anesthesia, and I think I turned out alright so I don't quite get the hand-wringing. Into every life a little rain must fall.

So did your family put you through those traumas on purpose, or were they there to help you through them? Most people count on family to help them through the suffering life throws our way, not cause it.

His behavior and the behavior of Meghan's half-siblings is inexcusable. Not only does she have to suffer their emotional abuse, but then she's blamed for not having them in her life because of it. She can't win.

I'm on team MM all the way. No one should sit by and watch people inflict that kind of emotional pain on others and stay neutral. She was preparing to get married, and dealing with that insane crap? They are hateful trash and I have zero respect for them, and nothing but sympathy for Meghan for having them in her life.

When I lived in the developing world as an adult, I regularly got fillings with no numbing. It’s pretty routine there and not as bad as it sounds. Certainly not traumatic. I have not lived through a civil war, but I don’t consider myself a bad ass for my dental experience. I have had a broken bone set with no pain relief. That got my attention. Still not traumatizing in and off itself.

I dip in and out of this thread daily, from the start but I can't say I have read every single detail.

From what I understand, very early on Kate Middleton was totally freaked out by the poise and confidence of MM. If you remember, before MM came on the scene, KM did not smile in photos, she stood, stiffly, lightly holding her hands together in front of her. After MM she started waving, smiling directly at cameras - she learned a lot from her, very quickly and applied it.

There is a TV production company who have been making a documentary and have had royal access. They were keen to let slip that KM was freaking about MM. However no one really picked up on this despite picking up on a "rivalry" or rift between the two women and citing the example that KM told MM not to chastise HER staff.

KM is a middle class daughter of an airline stewardess and a party planner dad. She has a steady but very boring background. She is not sophisticated and she is not intellectual. She is essentially a typical, small-minded British girl (I'm British I know what I'm talking about) and her peevishness would perhaps if directed to a girl with less independence and self-confidence, have been a way to make KM feel superior. However MM clearly takes no sh*te from anyone, as she shouldn't and KM's approach backfired.

Hence the rift.

How unprofessional. And this is what you consider a 'reliable source'?

We only report and comment on a certain serious subject and this particular person is an expert in a very specific area of that subject. So - it was fun gossip - all I'm saying is that I trust the person when they say they have sources. But whatever - you guys have at it.
