Are they drafty drafts?

The changes no longer just impact high school. What is the phasing plan for middle school? They can’t keep on “drafty drafting” this if they want to implement this for September.

What are you talking about? These changes will be made in the 27-28 school year.

that's only because Lees Corner families were the ones talking

There was a lone Crossfield dissident in my breakout group. I was shocked.

Literally, no one cares.

You don’t think the school board cares that a top 10 Virginia school will lose their high performance feeder schools? Think again.

Navy and Crossfield have smart kids but they're no smarter than everyone else at Oakton. No brain drain, sweeties. You're far too full of yourselves.

Exactly. Fox Mill kids are way smarter.

What did that person think was the best scenario?

In my group it also seemed that Scenario 2 was the least hated. Lees Corner, Fox Mill, and Floris parents all spoke out in support.

The next iteration will have only two scenarios.

I won't be shocked if Scenario 1 will get dropped.

Given that the people who made the maps admitted that they knew nothing about the neighborhoods and had not taken that into consideration, I suspect they are going to be redoing the maps. There is no doubt that the MS and HS need to change. The only ES that is overcrowded, that I know of, in the area is Coates. There is no good reason to mess with the ES boundaries except for Coates and the schools that might get Coates kids.

Kyle McDaniel was in my breakout group and said he would advocate to keep Lees Corner at Chantilly and address some of the other elementary school changes.

+1 I was in that group too.

Agree that almost all the breakout groups thoughts Scenario 2 was the best option. So hopefully 1&3 are canned. Also, the top factor that most people think is important to keep in mind for the boundary study is distance/proximity to the school. People agreed they shouldn’t be made to switch to a high school that is further away.

For high school. Middle school map has issues.

Tons of issuss. Besides those already mentioned, it moves kids from Dogwood and Hunter Woods from Hughes to Carson.

For option 2 MS- if you keep these neighborhoods at Hughes, you can probably fit Oak Hill to Carson and then Skyview is fairly aligned at least for the secondary level. If Oak Hill is out of Franklin, then they can probably keep that weird segment of Navy kids at Franklin, and keep the weird segment of Poplar Tree kids at Rocky Run.

Coates overcrowding is addressed in the already approved countywide redistricting.
