Then show it already! Don't just hand wave some mythical online map, show it. |
Dems should not travel perhaps? That spreads virus. |
Dems have been vaccinated for the most part. Not as much of an issue. |
In Israel, it seems to be. |
ugh, you can tell an MSNBC viewer the truth, but you can't make them think! Here's DC's map. Click on the 'Coverage' link for the map, the page defaults to 'Administration': https://coronavirus.dc.gov/data/vaccination#tab2 Here's Baltimore's map: https://baltimore.maps.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/4b64b6e8c0014b6998d767fcf077bfaf Here's Philadelphia's map. Underneath "PDPH Vaccination Dashboard" click on "Resident Demographics" as the page defaults to "Overall": https://www.phila.gov/programs/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19/data/vaccine/ Here's NYC's map, scroll down to "Vaccinations by Zip Code": https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data-vaccines.page#byzip Pattern of low vaccination rates in poorer areas follows almost universally even in one-party deep blue cities. Red states simply have a much higher-% of poor people, including many poor minorities. |
Then why does the Georgetown neighborhood, according to that map, have one of the lowest vaccination rates? All those poor people living there? Or is it all the Republicans living there? Or, maybe, those numbers on the DC website aren't accurate? Regardless, these are the 5 least vaccinated states, which coincidentally have some of the highest percentage of support for Donald Trump. Mississippi - 29.9% fully vaccinated Alabama - 32.9% fully vaccinated Arkansas - 34.5% fully vaccinated Louisiana - 35.3% fully vaccinated Wyoming - 35.4% fully vaccinated |
Georgetown has a denominator problem with the student population, there are people that are hard to track due to having two residences and that problem has been heightened by closed dorms/remote learning . There's an issue of double-counting that's well known in demographics. It's utterly predictable. You'll note the area near GWU and CUA also have the same issue. And all of those 'Trump states' have vast numbers of poor people. 2016 and 2020 saw Dems win big in rich counties and the GOP win big in poor counties. But it's fascinating to note the over-arching rule is poor people don't get vaccinated at anywhere near the rates of the better off. The political affiliation narrative is what has been drilled into peoples heads and they struggle to see anything else. |
It's more of an issue for those pro-life Bible thumpers, who tend to be Republican. |
'Bible thumpers' include lots of POC, including Democrats. The provincialism and naivete of this board is disturbing. |
DP, but you are ignoring the bar chart posted above, that shows that GOP are the largest group of anti-vaxxers in the US. Yes, poor people are hard to reach and African-Americans have a reason to be distrustful, but the numbers don't lie. |
I'm afraid it *only* shows that of *those* groups the GOP is the largest group. People can classified into many, many groups with different overlapping characteristics dependent on the person. Saying one or the other group is the 'largest group of anti-vaxxer in the US' isn't anywhere near as easy and simple as you pretend it to be. |
What does that have to do with the appalling anti-vaccination sentiment within the GOP? |
Someone's trying very hard to convince themselves and/or others that it's not the Rs who don't want to vaccinate, when the numbers clearly indicate that they do. Yes, many poor people can't/won't get vaccinated, but "can't" is not the same as "won't". Lastly, Trump is not gone. He still draws the R crowds, and most Rs who are running for election court him. So he is very much still leading the Death party, in more ways than one. |
All of the COVID deaths in MD in June, 100%, were unvaccinated people.
At some point, nature will run its course, and those who choose not to believe in science will be disproprtionately harmed. I would think Insurance companies would choose not to cover COVID in hospitals at some point as well. |
Stories like this make me go 'hmmm'. There's never any spread at any Dem event |
