Sadly, the realities of AA cause reasonable people to question whether, eg, Black Joe deserved to get into Harvard as much as Asian Joe did. And the big loser is the black American who really was on par with Asian Joe. |
^ And their daughters too. I should have noted that. |
Except the people who support AA? |
On average, URMs have fewer opportunities and resources to prepare for college, etc. They also face additional hurdles from systematic racism. The GOP is anti-black and is actively looking for ways to hurt minorities. AA, housing policies, etc. |
EXACTLY. They freaked the F out over BLM. God forbid someone stand up and say that black people are important too. Think about the poor, entitled Billys.
|
Exactly. And that's why the smartest black Americans often end up being Republican, and the ones who know they kicked someone out from college prefer to be "Democrat." |

NOt a single poster has said that blacks should stay in their place. What's being said is that blacks, same as whites, should get preferential treatment only IF they have been disadvantaged by a lower-income background. The posters objecting, all liberals I assume, want to make sure ONLY blacks should be given an advantage in admissions, and lower-income whites (even those with excellent grades in school) should be satisfied with community college. Sounds like posters are telling the "white trash" (a phrase used by some liberal here) to stay in their place.
As the child of a poor white who excelled academically and was therefore given admittance to a tuition-free college (they still exist), I am thankful that race was not a factor in the admission decision but rather the combination of financial neediness and outstanding scholastic ability. That is how it should be. A system that gives priority to middle-income blacks over lower-income whites with better grades should be abolished. |
There’s no question that the average Asian kid had significantly higher stats than the average black kid. That doesn’t mean that any given black kid could have higher stats than any given asian kid but the overall delta is clear and there are teams of data on the discrepancy. |
Well said. It is sad to see how many posters either don't get this or simply prefer to distract us to protect the unfair and racist status quo. |
I have said countless times that it'd be good to open up AA to SES factors and not just race. But don't let that get in the way of your story.
And you are completely fabricating the demographics here: "gives priority to middle-income blacks over lower-income whites with better grades". Please give data to support this statement if you think otherwise. You can't because you are FULL.OF.SH1T. Maybe your free school didn't teach you critical-thinking skills. |
The white mommies will publicly claim to support it because there is simply too much of a social cost to saying otherwise. But most know what’s up. |
DP here, and it's pretty obvious who is FULL OF SHIT. You. (Had to make it explicit as you sound quite slow) |
Ok. Please share the data that supports PP’s claim. Or perhaps you are full of shit too? |

new article with some data for y'all

Yes, this makes a great case for admissions to look at race + SES - which many elite schools already do. |
