There are two sides to every story. That's why we have defense lawyers and prosecutors. In theory, both sides are innocent until proven guilty. So those two men caught on tape could be completely innocent, too.

People are only questioning b/c there are quite a few holes in this story. It doesn't mean Smollet is lying, but it also doesn't mean he's sharing the ENTIRE truth.

Yeah, it does make you an a**hole. When you hear the story and you are like, he is clearly lying because Subway closes at 11!!!! Or he is clearly lying because police asked for surveillance video and no one has a video of the attack! Yeah, you are an a**hole.

I guess I'm creating a-holes of all my students by forcing them to question as they examine an issue through multiple lenses. For example, when I heard about Subway, I looked it up and did see they are open 24-7 in Chicago.

Miraculously, he had a small abrasion on his face even though one man punched his front while another hit him in the back. And then they suddenly stopped and walked off.

We're not to question these tidbits he shared publicly? Clearly you never participated in mock trial as a kid. This case would be a gem!

CHICAGO – Two people have been arrested in connection to the reported attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, according to the Associated Press, citing Chicago police.

The suspects have not been identified and have not yet been charged, according to the paper. There is no word on what charges they could face.

Police said they are Nigerian brothers who were in custody for “probable cause that they may have committed a crime.”

I was initially shocked at the reported events. If it turns out he’s a fraud, he should be arrested/fined for wasting LEs time.

Republicans will want to spin this into some false flag conspiracy. Or as evidence that racism or anti-gay violence is over reported. Of course none of that is true. But they get off on this stuff.

One interesting observation: typically when a black or Latino is accused of something, there is an arrest or engagement w/ police. In both this case and the one in TX where a white guy was falsely accused of shooting someone *no white ppl were actually impacted*. Only racists walked away with hurt feelings. When it happens to black ppl, some1 is, at best harassed and falsely detained. Black ppl rountinely pay for “mistakes”. White ppl just get hurt feelings.

Jussie's story is really starting to fall apart here. Just yesterday he was on GMA lambasting the public for not believing him. Today he is curiously silent about the attempted lynching that he so heroically fought back against all while staying on the phone with his agent and miraculously saving his sub.

Dems can latch onto these hoaxes and not have to retract anything not face consequences. Remember the Albany bus hate crime hoax? Hillary brought that up and never retracted when it was revealed to be a lie .
