I think Erby Mitchell is just shaking things up a bit at Sidwell. |
What are you trying to imply? |

Have you husband call the school and let him know how much he and the other DC enjoyed the school as students and he is very interested in his DC having their own wonderful experiences there. There must be much more to this than meets the eye. Sorry, don't mean to offend. Either you're just oblivious, or in denial, or your husband isn't filling you in completely. Seems that way, I know. But truthfully, this is the way it is. My DD is sweet and kind and easy. She reported a very good playdate experience. Very high WPSSI or whatever it's called. She has never been a discipline problem in three years of preschool. It really is as weird as it seems. |

OP about legacy here
I plan to call later in the week to ask about the situation |

OP about legacy here
Also, older sibs are not my kids, but are extremely good students No reason to think they caused any friction Just plain WTF? |

W/L Beauvoir, GDS
Accepted River, Green Acres, Capitol Hill Day School, Lowell |
Was this for Pre-K or K |

Wondering what your top choice is - we are waitlisted at both CHDS and Lowell (where I hear the waitlist is a true waitlist). |
Probably CHDS, because we found them the warmest. But we don't live on the Hill, so am trying to figure out whether: a) the commute from Bethesda will be too much (though DH works downtown); 2) whether not living on the Hill will leave us feeling disconnected from most of the rest of the CHDS families. If not CHDS, I'd prefer Green Acres, but that commute would kill us (I work part time downtown). So maybe Lowell, but I wasn't totally sold, finding it slightly run down. Sorry. I hope you get in either or both. |
DD who is accepted to more than one Big 3 school for Pre-K had WPPSI of 99.9%ile, easy going child who takes things in stride and who likes to live life to the fullest. She amazingly teaches us sometimes how to be a better person. But for the most part a normal kid. Our friends, family and even pediatrician says she's a great kid and obviously as her parents we do to. I know this doesn't help much but we honestly don't know what the admissions board looks for and are curious to know what it was baout our child that made them choose her. |
Well, Congratulations! Good luck with the decision making! |
I have a seriously hard time believing that there was no advance phone call, meeting, notification about this. In fact, I am 100% sure that people in OP Legacy's situation would have received a call from either the Admissions Director or the Head of School in advance of an outright rejection. |
| OP, tell us how it rolled out, you are getting a lot of well deserved sympathy here... |
Yes, that does sound really strange. Most, if not all, of these schools do seem to bend over backwards and place calls to families when an alum o/spring or sib is not being admitted. |
