Taylor Meeting at Wootton

There's been claims of many Wootton community parents are lawyers... so then what's the fund for? Please, I want to know too. Who was hired?

Why isn't there accountability and transparency? Why can't a few lawyer parents get together or even one and file?

There's two posts talking about this lady and I think her message got lost a bit or people just take things out of context and see what they want to see.

I think her points were:

-MCPS and Montgomery County had thought or tried to implement pedestrian safety but failed to do so with the inadequate sidewalks from the Willows to Frost. So what guarantee do families have now that they can trust the plan for pedestrian safety to Crown

-then I guess her point about Lakewood was that the renovations were done in a year and a half with the utilization of a holding school

I'm probably a bit biased too but watching the video I didn't think it was as bad as posts on here seem to indicate. Maybe things went a bit off the rails towards the end. But I've seen worse in other school systems that didn't even involve school closures/moving.

Isn’t part of the reason for Wootton to be moved and replaced by Crown because of the unforeseen large decline and continuing in student enrollment? So it would make sense to consolidate.

You all seem kind of trusting of how MCPS twists things to fit their narrative.

When did the reports of declining enrollment first come out? Around October?

https://wjla.com/news/local/montgomery-county-schools-enrollment-declines-birth-rates-down-maryland-school-system-trend-continues-budget-manager-donald-connelly-executive-marc-elrich-births-data-numbers-enrolling

https://www.thebanner.com/education/k-12-schools/mryland-school-enrollment-decline-numbers-SXOEMFHUAVHA7MZJVF4ZMQWAHU/

https://marylandpublicschools.org/stateboard/documents/2025/1209/enrollment-and-attendance-update-a.pdf

And somehow MCPS was able to whip option H in between the time these numbers became evident and when option H was first introduced in the beginning of December? Do you really think MCPS is really that fast and mobile that they can come up with what they did in about a month and based on accurate data and justifications?

Admittedly I am a conspiracy theorist. So in my mind MCPS pushed out these reports to help justify the rationale of Option H when it was presented.

It's the same reason why you can trust any news organizations from either end. They just report what's fed to them and are used to build public sentiment for either direction.

It's either that or Option H was always in the plans.

And it's as other people have been saying, if you really dig into the data based on the decisions there are a lot of flaws or inaccuracies in them. And people point them out in Board meetings and posts. But the issue is that everyone is so biased against the opposers of Option H, that they just choose to see someone as whining or complaining.

I'm so confused by the conspiracies around declining enrollment. Enrollment declining is a NATIONAL problem. Do none of you ever read the news? The NYT has been covering this for years. Climb out of your caves people. Read news. You live in MoCo. You can afford news subscriptions.

You thought the game was about having your traffic study phd give a testimony, but you had lost long before it. Blue ribbon in rubix cube robot not the same as people skills. 55 years.

Prediction…student and parent involvement will be way down at crown as “helicopters” won’t be able to hover close like on parkway. No pride, as it represents a loss and ensuing personal embarrassment. Loss of identity. Gone. Eliminated. 55 years. Unconscionable failure.

Blair Magnet fools too?

Lots of fools in MCPS now as Taylor wipes out programs. Why don’t you list all the fools?

Maybe there is just one fool, Taylor.

Blair magnet isn't being touched.

That is a nice whiff of gaslighting. The size of the Blair magnet will go down - the school district, shocker, is not being transparent about final number of students, because they have combined the proposed number of criteria-based seats available at Blair and Blair has two criteria programs proposed. Add to that the loss off students from around most of the county for the Blair magnet and you get something that is far less rigorous because Blair won't have as many highly able students applying and it will likely have fewer courses offered. Mediocrity, thy name is Thomas Taylor.

Probably Dufief losers.

Classy… there was a student who spoke you know? I was nervous for him. And I was nervous for the staff too. The angry mob was very angry. Maybe they should have to go sit in that counselor’s office and work for a week. People seem to be losing perspective here.

Kid was a prop there doing the work of the parent trying to get her way I'm sure. Just move to Crown and enjoy the new facility. Stop the complaining while the rest of us hope our kids have as nice a building!

The kid was advocating for the school to be moved because of the horrible conditions he has to deal with everyday. The angry mob resisted booing him. But barely.

You all make me want to see this angry mob video…where can i find it and around what minute? It sounds funny

If it's good, we should create a meme with some good music behind it!

Is the superintendent's wife and her company gonna bid on it? I heard she was milking contracts and that's how they became rich enough to live in some mansion.

Closing Wootton has been under consideration by MCPS at least as early as November 2024. It may have been as early as May 2024 when Wootton was removed from the CIP in May 2024, since MCPS broke ground on Crown in July 2024 in order not to lose the Crown farm land.

Probably, they couldn't live that lifestyle with his income along.

That’s right! Leave the child alone! He needs to play the violin himself!

With all the reports about Wootton behavior, seems like it’s already going on there. Oh and thanks for sharing your ig handle

The Wootten community finds itself defending certain actions and attitudes that to much of the county appear indefensible. Sometimes we are unsure just how to frame our response in terms of reason. We are not arguing against the Gaithersburg community as persons, but for the preservation of the neighborhood school and the geographic integrity of our communities, which are the only sure safeguards of our academic and neighborhood heritage.

How is booing a student part of the preservation of the neighborhood school and geographic integrity of your community?
