Presser is happening at Chick Fil-A tomorrow from 3-8. It's a two-fer: Contribute to a nonviable legal case while also lining the pockets of corporate evangelicals who hate gay people. Is this is the Win/Win AVG keeps talking about?

My wootton asian friends has been pissed at the idea of not renovating wootton option or relocating wootton to crown option. They just want the BOE to throw big sum of money to renovate current wootton building to the point that they could stay at current location when their kids attend HS. They are not walking distances to wootton HS and their kids are preK and ES ages. I am not sure why they are so mad.

Because, stupidly, they are too invested in the name of the school.

What platform? What languages? Is the translation certified as accurate? Does it comply with federal law?

I want to double back to this post because it illustrates something really important about the debate:

1) Many folks discussing this issue are either coming from outside MCPS or have not paid a single second of attention to politics at any level before two months ago;

2) Because of that ignorance, they seem to have a high level of faith in the Donald J. Trump Department of Justice is going to save them from a boundary revision;

3) This is the same presidential administration that advanced an Executive Order to rescind any directives that would make government services accessible to folks with limited English;

4) I would almost feel badly for them, because they are clearly so clueless about how MCPS works, how local/state politics work, and whether a white supremacist federal government sees them as worth advocating for. But I don't.

You sound rather biased. Nobody is really saying what you regurgitated. Rather, there is a desire to let the courts sort out this situation. You seem to think that local politicians and MCPS are acting appropriately. Some do not think they are, hence the threat to sue.

It is a guaranteed loss. The reasons put forth are flimsiest at best and delusion at worst. Just because you may not like an outcome does not make it illegal. But some lessons are learnt the hard way. Hopefully future generations will learn from it.

Schools in Potomac tend to be overrated. No Maryland school ranks in the nation’s top 10. Many other states have schools with 10/10 ratings, but unfortunately, none from Maryland make the list.
Obviously, improvements in Maryland schools are needed.
It’s clear that Maryland schools need significant improvements to compete nationally.

Wootton and Churchill used to rank in the top 100 consistently. Then they started to decline about 12 years ago when Curriculum 2.0 was brought in. Now with passing the regional model, MCPS is just heading into the free fall stage.

MCPS clearly places a heavy emphasis on equity goals, sometimes at the expense of preserving the stability and performance of individual high-performing schools. The issue isn’t equity itself—it’s whether those tradeoffs are being fully acknowledged and backed by data.

You have to admit the nuggets and sandwiches are good. I don’t support what their founders and owners believe but the chicken is good.
