Why is ICE only going after the low-hanging fruit?

It's obvious that ICE is helping Trump pad his numbers, but also, it looks like they are doing it because the ICE agents are scared. The most some construction or restaurant workers will do is run. That'll give the agents some cardio for the day. But in the gang neighborhoods? The ones full of MS13 - those guys will fight back. ICE knows this and doesn't want to engage.

So they'll pad their numbers with the low-hanging fruit. Trump can boast about how many illegals he deported, and then when an actual illegal criminal commits a crime, Trump can shrug his shoulders and say something like, "It's because Biden let so many in. Look how many I got rid of! And there are still so many bad guys to round up."

OP, to answer your question, which makes false assumptions:

So Homan just fudges a new narrative. They keep doing the same, low hanging fruit, going after harmless, hard working, productive farm labor and construction workers and kitchen help but now claim it's "forced labor" or whatever else.

The retirement is at a high because you continue to pay into it. The markets are not at highs, so you have to factor in where the markets would be if Trump hadn't effed around with tariffs and wars and deportations.

Gas is cheaper at the moment because of the lowered demand thanks to EVs, Solar and Wind alternatives. However, Gas futures are now at $100/barrel so expect the gas to go up signifcantly as the summer goes on.

And, while YOUR condition may have improved, the conditions for average Americans since January is significantly degraded, so you have to look at macro trends for where the country is, rather than the anecdotal of your personal situation.

On balance, how has more immigrants or even illegal immigrants directly impacted you? And please factor in things like who is picking foods in the fields, washing dishes in restaurants, cleaning hotel rooms, who is working the slaughter houses etc.

I am addressing ILLEGAL immigration. Don’t conflate the two.
You know damn well how it impacts everyone. Stress on local budgets due to increased spending for schools and other services. Lower wages for hourly workers. Stress on hospitals and clinics. Stress on our prison system.

I could go on and on. Illegal aliens also pose a national security risk.
