It's sad because we did need the changes and sad because we lose double for missing out on the changes and for giving up so much more to T & M.

None of their ideas are right. The part about saving money was just a way to sell looting the government to the American people.

Musk has earned nearly a billion dollars by getting US government contract awards.

Trump has no problem spending $200M on ads with Kristi saying he's doing a great job with deportations.

For a full month of work Musk has “saved” 4-9 billion. On the high side that is 432 billion over 4 years on a 6.7 trillion dollar budget.

And how much has he conned the government out of via his contracts?

No he hasn't. His "wall of receipts" is full of lies and phony numbers.

I believe that. There was also a coordinated boycott of them after they dropped diversity and equity on January 24th or so.

I predict Target will go out business, just like the MAGA who are the undoing of themselves.

It's sad because I like Target, but I'm avoiding it.

I generally agree with you but am now 50/50 on this outcome, before I thought it was an 80% chance of delay/cancel. I think they are smoking their own supply now.

Tariffs are one of the few things Trump legitimately believes in. He's an idiot who has a childish bully's view of the world- trade deficits are bad to him because he thinks other countries are taking advantage of us. He literally doesn't understand that exporting less than you import isn't a problem. Anyway all that to say I think he's really going to follow through on this.

He announced it’s happening tomorrow (Tuesday).

Yes, but a number of times he has "announced it" and then backed away hours before actual implementation. So there is some reason/history to be skeptical.

Called it! Except they waited for 24 hours of implementation before backing down like the little babies they are. This will do wonders for business confidence!

Undoubtedly he will now claim he won. But we all know he got spooked by the stock market.

The immediate downstream effects of the illegal terminations cost a lot, and then firing half of IRS workers will definitely deplete treasury income (allowing rich people to get away with tax fraud) so in the end I expect a higher deficit and significantly poorer economic viability and quality of life for majority of Americans. Musk will profit even if Tesla tanks.

You may be right.....

As usual he is bluffing.....They will come up with another lame excuse so he can declare victory long before the tariffs are actually fully implemented across the supply chain.

All sizzle and no steak. They don't have the balls to be firm on their word games ideas with tariffs. Let them put 25% on Canada, Mexico, China, and EU and keep it up for a month or two. Do they dare? I don't think so. They may be incompetent but not stupid.

You forgot "weak"- that's what overcame the "stupid" this time.

Private companies added just 77,000 new workers for the month, well off the upwardly revised 186,000 in January and below the 148,000 estimate, ADP reported.

Trump double downed last night. He is not taking counsel from Lutnick or Bessent. He is his own counsel.

Fair point. It's cool that markets can't take anything seriously from anyone in the government except a Truth Social post. But the up/down games will continue so that the insiders can make quick bucks on options, if nothing else.

Why are you avoiding it? Just curious. I’m a Democrat and I understand the Amazon boycott, but unsure why some people are avoiding Target.

I called it yesterday. even an idiot like him must know that tariffs would kill the economy and his voting base. he was lucky last time he inherited a strong economy that weathered his tariff wars (and even last time, he ended up blinking first with China, even though he tried to spin it as a win). he has no idea what to do and how to negotiate so he resort to threat of tariffs only to pull them and claim victory. it was especially obvious in the case of Canada, there was simply no rational reason for tariffs, the current trade agreement was negotiated by him just a few years ago. the official reason was flow of fentanyl coming into the US from Canada, where there is no fentanyl coming from Canada.

anyway, just to see the type of long term damage done to the US by this type of idiot behavior https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/mar/05/relationship-broken-canada-responds-donald-trump-tariff-threats
