The tariffs won't go into effect. It's another bluff and continues desire to endlessly be in the news. Either shortly after midnight the tariffs are postponed yet again or at some point this week we get another attention seeking headline that Canada and Mexico compromised on "something" and the tariffs are on pause again for some time.
You may be right..... https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/04/trump-tariff-compromise-canada-mexico-commerce-lutnick.html As usual he is bluffing.....They will come up with another lame excuse so he can declare victory long before the tariffs are actually fully implemented across the supply chain.
I called it yesterday. even an idiot like him must know that tariffs would kill the economy and his voting base. he was lucky last time he inherited a strong economy that weathered his tariff wars (and even last time, he ended up blinking first with China, even though he tried to spin it as a win). he has no idea what to do and how to negotiate so he resort to threat of tariffs only to pull them and claim victory. it was especially obvious in the case of Canada, there was simply no rational reason for tariffs, the current trade agreement was negotiated by him just a few years ago. the official reason was flow of fentanyl coming into the US from Canada, where there is no fentanyl coming from Canada. anyway, just to see the type of long term damage done to the US by this type of idiot behavior https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/mar/05/relationship-broken-canada-responds-donald-trump-tariff-threats
