I'm not the one who made that post questioning the increasing # of anonymous posts; but I don't disagree with her. I understand if a teacher doesn't want APS to see their comments and therefore an exception be made here and there; but there does seem to be an increasing # of anonymous posters and they aren't obviously from teachers. If parents are posting anonymously because they don't want teachers wielding revenge on their kids, we have a much bigger problem. I never knew there was an anonymous option and for the most part, I think it's wise to keep it transparent. Like the poster pointed out, the other people don't have the option of responding anonymously. And what exactly is the criteria for being granted permission to be anonymous, anyway? I understand why someone might want to post certain things anonymously. But some of those anonymous questions/comments really don't warrant anonymity. |
It stopped being this a long time ago. It’s an echo chamber for the 5 posters who still post there. |
+1 |
Lol! You’re posting anonymously on this thread about a topic that doesn’t really warrant anonymity. You see the irony, right? |
No - this is an anonymous forum. AEM was not set-up as an anonymous forum. |
You can sign in and identify yourself. It’s an option some choose. You choose to post anonymously. |
|
and it seems to trigger the crazies so bonus |
So do you. So do you post anonymously on AEM? |
Of course I choose to post anonymously because I value my privacy. I would never post on AEM, and for the privacy of my children, I would never post a question on a public message board that could be identified as an inquiry relating to them. I would also never criticize someone for making an anonymous inquiry if it doesn’t disparage others and is solely to get information. |
This! It's really none of anyone's business why the person chose to be anonymous if it's not a troll post. The fact that someone is criticising that option shows exactly why that option should exist. ![]() |
I bet some of the people posting anonymously are the teacher-haters who are too embarrassed by their actions to post under their own name. Why else would you want to hide your name for basic questions? |
Because of the loud and proud posters over there that are not really interested in helping anybody, but just having their voices be heard. |
“Loud and proud”? WTF does that mean? I can understand why you would post anonymously. |
NP. The problem is that disagreement is now met with personal attacks in some cases. It's really only a few people, including (and especially) the woman who questioned why more people are posting anonymously. I agree with her more often than disagree but am so turned off by her. Accusing someone of "whitesplaining" because he disagreed with her, for example. Accusations (completely unwarranted IMHO) like that shut down any meaningful conversation and yes, make people wary of publicly posting. There is no real exchange of ideas on AEM anymore. And it's a shame. |
