Prince Harry and Meghan in Near Catastrophic Car Chase in NYC

So where did the rest of the 2 hours go?

This isn't hard to find. They were in one car, a SUV with a driver, who had to keep driving in different directions to lose them. Didn't want to show them their residence. Finally drove to a police station, then took a cab.

I don’t believe it.

The coronation is over, so they need something to draw attention to themselves.

You are all adding this to make it a drama for yourselves.

Gee, I thought "chase" implied a certain degree of speed. I mean have you heard of slow chase?

But OK. Their spokespeople described it as near-catastrophic, relentless pursuit that involved several near-collisions and involved other drivers, pedestrians and police officers. Assuming this sort of thing can be undertaken at 25 miles an hour, why haven't any of these other drivers and pedestrians spoken up?

They have. Many folks. Get off your tabloids.
They were surrounded and followed, 12 vehicles, yes, for 2 hours. No one said anything about high speed or anything similar. This was commentary from the haters that prevailed over what was said.

DP. Sorry, but I’m desperate for sources. Hook me up? Thanks!

Anyone?

My big issue with this situation and then is not whether or not it happened or happened in the way it was described.

I just can’t believe that they felt the need to issue a statement. Do they honestly believe a strongly worded statement through a spokesperson is going to stop press intrusion?

The South Park joke is spot on about them - they want to scream and yell “we want privacy” while over and over again drawing attention to themselves. But hey, lots of people can’t look away from a car crash. These two offer lots of entertainment.

They left the Ballroom at about 10pm in their SUV. An hour later, they pulled into the 19th Precinct (1.4 miles from the Ballroom) after being unsuccessful at shaking the paps and not wanting to lead them to the friend's house where they were staying. The paps were at the Precinct and so someone thought they could outsmart the paps by having the trio get in a cab instead. But the cab got stopped at a light / behind a truck and the paps weren't outsmarted and some found them there (those on foot had easy access to them in stopped traffic). They then realized the cab wasn't going to work either so the cabbie drove them around the block and dropped them back off at the 19th Precinct. From there it seems police gave them some kind of escort or blocked the paps to let the trio get away (in their own SUV again) and they finally got to their friend's place at midnight.

This "chase" happened because the couple didn't want the paps to know where they were staying? In NYC? The place of fortress apartment buildings? My. Fancy that. None of the other major celebs ever seem to have this kind of problem. I wonder why.

There is security footage but they shockingly haven’t turned it over yet. They need more time to doctor it.

You're saying there was a 2-hr high speed chase through the densest part of America that endangered multiple people and YET no one called the police, no one filmed it, no one spoke to anyone else about, it passed virtually unnoticed? How?

You are the one saying it was a high speed chase. I mean, you are just making up stuff.

I think in their situation, I would NOT make a statement, and start traveling with a mask on. When I got in the cab, I would put the mask on so any pics taken would not show expression. Any surgical mask should fix the problem and everyone can relate to wearing one now especially in NYC transit.

There were no accidents or injuries during this 2 hour debacle, so “near catastrophic” is a bit of a stretch.

Also, why let it go on for 2 hours? Seems the driver should have pulled over. This wasn’t a mob trying to kill them. It’s horribly invasive, but surely avoiding being photographed after appearing at a much-publicized public event isn’t worth anyone’s life. So stop the car. Surely someone had a phone and could call police?

That wouldn't be as dramatic.

This! If anything remotely like this happened to the , it certainly happens to bigger name celebs. But are they putting out such a melodramatic statement?

Always staying at some celebrity "friend's" house, whim they barely know.

Same and also Katherine Heigl.

I'm pretty sure there have been critical threads of both women and others.

What was that award for? Netflix?

It is interesting that none of them put seatbelts on in the cab. Don't all cabs have to have working seatbelts?

If scared and being pursued in a way that makes one fear for life and limb, the first thing I would do is put a seatbelt on. I also wouldn't trade a blacked out SUV for a cab.

+1 Exactly my thoughts when reading. Don't want to compromise your friend's house, then stay at a hotel. Pull over. Anything is better than endangering people's lives.

Nice victim blaming.

Yes, I can see that with the hotel. But, not with pulling over. It said the chase included driving on sidewalks. Prince Harry should have know it was highly dangerous given his mom’s death. Would your answer still be the same if a pedestrian was hurt or killed as a result?

If I truly wanted privacy however after a public event, I would stay at a hotel, since they are equipped at handling this.
