Not as good as last year's, but still decent.

lol.
NCS just waits until later so the fragile parents don't complain until it is too late https://www.instagram.com/cathedral2022/

They all look happy in those pics & in the comment sections, but the reality is very very different than that. That school is really socially competitive.

This is such an ignorant comment. The senior class at NCS has an amazing collection of girls who are very friendly with each other. You clearly are not close to this class at all.

Landon

I always compare privates to the honors kids at public. Landon doesn’t seem very different from any good public high school in terms of college admissions.

Why compare privates to the honors kids though? I think private provide better outcomes for the average kid.

Is there a page for STA?

I know a young lady who would be an upperclassman right now if she were still at NCS. She went there for a year when she was in middle school & absolutely hated it.

Because my kid is an honors/AP kid. I am comparing outcomes of the top 20%of the class or top 100 kids vs sending my kid to a private high school with a graduating class of 100-150 students.

We decided to keep our motivated high achieving kid in public. We will likely send our younger 2 less hard working smart kids to private.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing!

Posters used to always write “big 3 or nothing”. At this point, I think many of the other schools mentioned in this forum provide a better overall experience.

This post is about GDS. Sidwell and Holton are doing very well this year. Don’t try to lump all of these schools together.

What does Holton have to do with anything? The poster says “Big 3”.

Big 3. Dated....

Parents speak of the challenging academic environments of the all- girls schools in the area. Matriculation outcomes show little comparison to the top 2 in the DMV.

NCS
Holton

Madeira
Stone Ridge
Georgetown Visitation
Holy Child
Oakcrest

Just barely ok, I'd say. I know somewhat more disappointed families than happy ones.

Couple of unhooked very high stats kids got T10s - just a couple...otherwise, I'd say everyone was hooked for T10.

ED was the ticket for SLACs and esp. Tufts.

Unhooked/high stats had a bunch of kids shut out of T30...and scrambling between safeties since targets were often...off-target

No kids there but a mom I know whose girls are now in their late 20s says it’s the worst thing she ever did to her daughters. 10 years after graduation she still complains how bad it was. That is what stands out to me.

There are a lot of kids who hate middle school no matter where they are. Plus one kid’s middle school experience does not define everyone else’s high school experience.

Don’t these two schools have about 600 students per grade? Their college admissions results are underwhelming.

Sidwell’s recent posts have been incredibly impressive.

We are zoned for Langley. Their instagram doesn’t represent their whole class. Both McLean and Langley have a lot of smart Asian kids and they often don’t post on these social media platforms. I know my son won’t want to. Last year, at least 10 kids went to Yale. I don’t know anything about this year. My kid is only 14.
