I think the big three in the big five are turning into a big Meh. The results all over the place are very similar. Though my neighboring public school probably did just as well for free! But that’s been talked about continuously and we can afford what we can afford so we’re not complaining. It’s just so interesting that the past seven years or so I really even the playing field. When my eldest graduated this was not the case.

Do you struggle with reading comprehension? The post that I responded to clearly asked “What happened with GDS this year?”. This is a thread about college admissions results (via Instagram). Therefore, the poster is asking what happened to GDS’ college admissions this year? The answer: So far, the results are underwhelming.

Umm, let’s leave it at Sidwell…for now. All of the other privates don’t seem to be doing as well as Sidwell right now.

Down compared to what? Pre-COVID? 1990?

It’s certainly not a down year compared to other DC area privates and publics. Nearly half of Sidwell’s 2023 class has posted, and at least 14 students are going to Ivies/MIT. Over half of the students that posted will attend top 20/25 universities and SLACs. Most of the remaining students are going to top 50 universities. Those results may not be Sidwell’s best year ever, but in this post-quarantine, test optional, anything goes environment, it’s pretty damn good.

I always compare privates to the honors kids at public. Landon doesn’t seem very different from any good public high school in terms of college admissions.
