We can all agree that Battlefield will be there at the end since their league doesn’t have the depth of the best region in public school lacrosse in Virginia. Oakton will be a very tough out for sure but there are other very good teams that will improve or implode. Once all the teams get into their conference games then let’s revisit the “best” goalie and so forth. Defense wins championships. And to the parent that wrote about a team winning, he/she has that spot on. D1 commits don’t win, TEAMS win.

100%!! Robo has 2 D1 commits and were steamrolled by Yorktown who has zero D1 commits.

Let's hope you didn't place these bets with Fan duel. Some of the worst picks all year.

You can’t always go by how many D1 commits a team has since all D1 programs, coaches, and commits are not created equal. You can bet that a commit to championship programs like UNC, BC, JMU or UMD will be top level talent. Lower level D1 programs like say a Winthrop, Mercer or W&M will recruit solid H.S. Players, but certainly not at the level of those strongest programs.

I know this may come as a shock but some top level talent choose higher academic universities over higher quality of the lacrosse programs.

Robinson’s D1 commits are overrated. The one going to Cincinnati was shut down by a team with zero D1 commits.

There's plenty of overlap between top academics and top lacrosse that a truly top player seeking academics might choose before W&M, Mercer or (for crying out loud) Winthrop. Just off the top: Penn, Northwestern, BC, Stanford, Navy, Vandy, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Princeton, Hopkins, Michigan, Notre Dame. Hell, three of the four programs you cited as "championship" programs are ones that I'd be proud for my kid to attend from an academic perspective. Do you really think that there has ever been a player weighing scholarship offers from UNC and W&M for lacrosse who chose W&M (much less Winthrop or Mercer)? Please.

If UNC offered a few thousand and WM offered say 50% and more likely to play what would you say?

CVille CRUSHED Yorktown tonight. Won by 6 or 7. Centreville is going to win the district if not the region this year, can’t wait to see them vs. Madison. Yorktown looked solid, but lacked the chemistry and drive CVille has this year. Both goalies played great.

CVille 15 - Yorktown 9
Potomac 10 - Madison 8

I have a serious question. How are the regions C and D divided? It just doesn’t make sense to me geographically? But I’m not as familiar with the schools in Fairfax and Arlington so I could be wrong

We were out there to visit friends so we decided to go sit in the rain and catch this one because why not. Lol

Crushed? First half was a slug fest and was tied at the half (6 all I think). Yorktown played a bit “strong style” and got away with some questionable “playing” but they didn’t get called so whatever.

Cville came out the second half and just seemed to maul Yorktown. The score was indicative to that Cville team. 😳 not slagging ytown but that Cville team is GOOD. I thought it was hype around them this year but, holy crap. . . Extremely well coached, talent rich and just fast.

And for all I heard that their parents and crowd were jerks, I found the opposite. Even their announcer was complimentary to Ytown and knew his stuff. A few really jerk ytown parents but I get that with the way the game was going.

Really, a fun game and worth the $5 and the frozen toes and fingers.
