Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee

I like the smaller balcony presence. There were way too many people on it before-lile the kids of the Queen's cousins.

You can discipline a 4 year old without any sort of corporal punishment. It’s clear this child is not disciplined, and it’s ridiculous that so many people are all “oh he’s only 4!”. 4 year olds can be expected to behave much better than this in public. If this child was next to you on a plane or at an event doing this, you same people would be complaining left and right. It’s just because it’s one of the Cambridge kids that everyone is bending over backwards to excuse the behavior. If Archie had been photographed doing that, Piers Morgan and his ilk and many of the posters here would have broken the speed of light to condemn Meghan.

As far as the balcony, why would they have come if they were upset about it? It was announced far in advance that only working royals would be on the balcony. As far as their kids, I don’t blame them one bit for not bringing them out for pictures. What’s the good in it? If they do, people will say they are using them for this or at.

I thought they handled the entire situation well. If they hadn’t come, people would have come after them for or. So they came. Then people still came after them. People said they would do all that they could to draw attention to themselves. Instead they were low key and only went to the two things they absolutely had to. So then people said they were pouting.

I’m very curious to know what would have been the preferred thing for them to do by those that can’t stand them.

I actually liked what they did. They came as a family of four. Made their presence known but stayed largely invisible. Everyone knew where they were staying and they mingled with family that made an effort. Now if William didn't want to fly clear across the ocean to visit their new home that's one thing, but if he made no effort to see a child he has never met that was in the Queen's backyard that's something else entirely. His choice and the ball was in his court.

I mean if you say so - it looks like a downgrade to me. There was something special about all those random figures with rows and rows of service medals.

If they were so eager for the family to meet the kid why wait an entire year to take her to the UK for a visit?

William was kind of busy this weekend...there was this thing going on for his grandma's 70th year as Queen. He can hardly skip it because his brother wants attention.

I think it looks sad. This was her birthday and it should have been close friends and family by her side. I know that isn’t how it works but wouldn’t have been nice to put everyone out there to celebrate. Maybe start the event with the trimmed down crowd and end it with a big group.

This is a very deliberately chosen photo/grouping representing the four generations/the Queen's direct descendants in line for the throne. It's possible Harry and Meghan would have been included if they hadn't made the decision to leave.

Eh, it was a celebration of 70 years as a Queen and the balcony shots show the future.
On a practical note, her mobility issues were pretty obvious in the second appearance. Cramming 50 or so people up there would have been a bit much.

Something looks off with this picture. William and Kate appear to be twice the size of the other adults.

That video of him and Kate! With him making faces and covering her mouth.

She’s every mom.

Hmm, no. None of the other royal kids were or are that bad. He kicked his sister, slapped his hand over Kate's face, and was just unruly the whole time. He needed his nanny.

He's four you idiot.

If either of my sons behaved that way at age four, they would remember and fear the consequences for the rest of their lives. Disrespecting a parent at age four is completely unacceptable in my house.

Same!

You two harpies don't have sons. What consequences at 4 years old? Beating? His behavior is so typical of second born boys.

You've never punished a 4 year old? You take their favorite toy and remove it as punishment. They'll remember the next time they act out again another toy will be removed.

GMAFB. You are not a legit parent of any child that was ever 4.

Agree!

Charles appears to be shrinking. He was much taller when he was William’s age.

The smaller family didn't bother me, but they all looked so sad, like they know it's the last time they will be together. Makes me wonder if the Queen has some medical issue besides the mobility stuff and being in her late 90s.

+1. I didn't post this video earlier because I knew this tedious discussion would happen. I have a lovely 15 year old girl who would have absolutely been this much of a nightmare at 4 if she was bored and overtired. Most children have bad moments. Most aren't royal and under a microscope.
