Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| Thompson withdrew the football team from the playoffs today |
| Her third letter still doesn’t address consequences for Hayfraud. We don’t need a comprehensive review of policies. We need those who break the existing policies to suffer consequences. Beyond withdrawing from the game. The principal, coach and other hangers on need to be fired. R6 superintendent needs to go. Reid needs to be reprimanded. FCPS actions were shameful and caused harm to all FCPS families and staff. Emails and reviews are not enough. |
Wow, can he do that? |
| does this mean Edison gets to play ??? |
The three who signed Dunne's statement were the three members in the minority who had called for a more in-depth investigation in August (Dunne, McElveen, and Ricardy Anderson). The statement built on the fact that the signatories had called for an independent inquiry at that time. Meren and Moon did not call for a more in-depth investigation in August, but refused to sign onto the letter that Frisch circulated this weekend and that was signed by seven members (Frisch, Sandy Anderson, Sizemore-Heizer, Dixit, St. John-Cunning, McDaniel, and Lady). |
Sorry Robinson. Lost your shot. |
Exactly - this is now her third attempt at gaslighting/sweeping whole thing under the rug. Principal withdrew team because his AD's texts were pretty incriminating. But I don't think Reid should just get to say "hey excellent it all worked out...good job FCPS for working together to get right outcome...." and just move on... Or point to investigation by her EMPLOYEE as solution to all this (which will take at least a year anyway and whose results the public will probably never see) |
No whoever hayfield was going to play will just have a bye I don’t want to sound like an ass but the in all honestly they likely would’ve lost to WSHS I can’t in my head get what the 3-6 and 4-5 games would’ve been but I think the only possible outcome difference would’ve been soco beating west Potomac at west Potomac Lake Braddock would’ve still won WSHS would’ve still won Fairfax would’ve still won |
Wow. I admit that I am shocked. I didn't know that it happened. It should not. I hope there is a thorough investigation an that everyone gets punished. I am embarrassed that my family in other parts of the country is going to read about this in the news. It is making me lose my love of sports. |
He just did so yes We call this action damage control You really have to say though, if they’d just accepted their 2-year ban, we probably don’t get to this point |
| Withdrawing from the playoffs ultimately punishes the players who worked hard all season, rather than holding accountable the adults responsible for the issues. The players dedicated countless hours to improving their skills and representing their team, only to have their opportunity for success taken away due to decisions beyond their control. These young athletes simply followed the instructions given by the adults in charge, trusting in their leadership. It’s crucial that the consequences for this situation target the adults who caused the problems, not the players who are now unfairly bearing the brunt of the fallout. |

Clueless parent who kept getting these random, confusing emails from Reid. Can someone summarize what this is all about?
(I’ll note that my children do not go to Hayfield and don’t play football, so not sure why I’ve gotten at least three rather long emails.) |
If you're going to be honest, both the adults and the 31 (!!!!) players who knowingly transferred in, against the rules, should experience consequences. We have a start. If outraged parents continue to put on pressure, then consequences will continue. |
Last week, several new and troubling text messages were brought to light and are now part of the ongoing review regarding Hayfield Secondary School recruiting concerns. FCPS can only act on the information that it has, and these messages brought new concerns to the initial investigation.

It teaches them right from wrong and that bad decisions have consequences. Let them consider it a valuable life lesson many probably haven't learned yet. |
